I imagine "because I love him" wouldn't quite suffice in this situation! However, I've been in this relationship for awhile now, and if I'm interviewed, I'm hoping the time I've shared with him will assist me in my explanation. I also hope the fact that I'm from Canada will make my case seem a little less questionable. But honestly, I understand how suspicious this will seem. Is there anything I can do to help this? Anything I can sign to say I'll only stay in the US so long as I am married to this US citizen? Because I'm not interested in becoming a US citizen... I only want to be with him. If I'm not with him, then there's no point in me being there.

I responded in another thread, but can't seem to find it now. It was the same questions though. I just thought since you seem to have posted this again that I would post my questions here as you may only be looking at responses here.

Two things to find out, depending on what institution your boyfriend is in. Do they allow marriages in the institution, and check the State and county websites to see how to go about getting a marriage license. In MO, both my now husband and myself had to be present to get the license, and he had to have his SS card with him. Something to check into...

Citizenship is a process you either engage in obtaining or not. If you qualify and want to be a citizen you CAN be. They aren't concerned about that. The concern is that the relationship is entered into only for an immigration benefit. That's the hurdle you overcome, once you actually accomplish getting married and everything else leading up to the visa interview.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
