We have our AOS Interview in 2 weeks......now the USC father of my son has FINALLY agreed to help my son get the US Citizenship ! How soon after the AOS Interview can I submit my son's N 600 and do I have to submit it to our local office or somewhere else ?

Can anyone please give advice or/ and share experiences ¿

How long does it take to get my sons Citizenship after submitting the N 600 ?

Hi Nat,

Congratulations on getting the father to cooperate.

The US Embassy in Berlin requires the US citizen parent to appear before it to report the birth of the child in order to claim US citizenship. http://germany.usembassy.gov/acs/claimtocitizenship.html

I believe that my child has claim to U.S. citizenship. What next?

If you believe that your child has a claim to U.S. Citizenship, it will be necessary for the U.S. citizen parent to appear in person at the Embassy or Consulate in order to execute an application for a "Consular Report of Birth Abroad" before a consular officer. At that time, a passport application may also be executed.

You should contact the US Embassy or Consulate on what to do or you can ask them at your interview. In the meantime, you should get documents to support your child's claim to citizenship - birth certificate with the father's name, copy of the father's passport, and proof that the father has been a resident of the US for at least 5 years before your child's birth.

Best of luck to you.

He never signed anything to register Birth abroad.

We are now in the US and have our Adjustment of Status Interview on Oct 20.

Any advice ?

I will certainly NOT go back to Germany and therefore have to do all that from here.

What I need to know is how soon after AOS (Green Card Interview) I can put my son's papers in and whether I can do that at the Seattle Office.

By the Processing Times it takes around 7 months right now.But I have no clue how soon I can file for him and whether the papers need to be send directly to Seattle or to Chicago Lockbob or NVC.

Advice ?

Thnaks Nat
