Can I throw away my application copies now?

Hey all

As my Topic title states, my case is now in the hands of the US Embassy in BKK and my fiancée is awaiting her interview.

Previously I had made 2 copies of my complete application which I sent to the Calif. Processing Ctr.

Now that my case has been approved and is already in BKK, can I throw them away?

Your advice, as always, is appreciated.

Really, I wouldn't throw away ANYTHING!!! Make sure your Fiancee has a complete copy of the petition for the interview. Save everything because you never know if you might need it. You may loose something or, the authorities may loose something. I lost my disk with all my master copies. I'm so upset about it. But I'm a packer and I save almost everything so I was still able to put together a copy of our petition for my Fiance since the copy I sent him in the mail was never received.

Why would you want to throw them away ?... I would have thought it would make sense to keep a copy.... just in case you need to refer to it.

Absolutely not... in fact, you should keep a copy of everything that you send to the USCIS until you naturalize...

Yeah I guess you are all right. The only reason I want to throw them away is because I've been living with my fiancée here in Chiang Mai for the last 6 months, and I'm going back to the US next week. I brought all the docs with me, and just wanted to lighten my load on the way back. All that paperwork gets heavy.

Since I have 2 complete copies, I will leave one with my fiancée and take one with me. Seems like the best solution.

It's taken a long time to get the interview -- I think there was a problem with her getting the packet 3. After getting the NOA2, I kept waiting for the packet 3 to arrive ... but it never did. I wasted 2 months waiting. Finally I downloaded the paperwork and sent it in. We should be receiving an interview date soon, I would imagine, but unfortunately if I hadn't wasted those 2 months waiting for the Packet 3, I'm sure we'd be done by now.

Oh well.... if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's patience.

I heard they often ask for a complete copy of yr original application at AOS time, so keep one at least.

I have copies of everything we have done so far in a file cabinet, I am keeping them because we will bring it to the AOS interview we have in a week ( ) AND I know it was useful when getting ready to send out the AOS and EAD stuff.

our AOS interview appointment letter asked us to bring copies of everything ever submitted. I assume it will be the same for lifting conditions.
