Passed my green card interview!!!

I had my green card interview last Monday (October 5) at the Salt Lake City office.

The interview went very easy. We were mostly asked the questions that we already provided on I-485:

my name, birthday, SSN, my last entry to the US.

He asked my husband when we got married, and how long we lived together since marriage.

We lived together only for a year even though we have been married for three years

because I worked in my country and it took almost a year to get K-3 visa.

We honestly answered that we lived together just for a year, and the officer was a little surpirsed.

He asked us how often we stayed together for the last year, and we said "all the time". No further question.

He just wanted to see proof of our co-habitation. So we gave him our joint bank account statement, our house lease agreement, and medical insurance statement.

Then he asked the questions that were on the third page of I-485 (Processing information), which I could answer with only one word "No".

He didn't ask for any pictures (He didn't even ask how we met).

So my husband asked him if he would like to see any of our pictures.

He said it's not a good sign if he asks for pictures since they are secondary evidence.

So that was it. He said I would get my green card in couple of weeks.

I am happy and relieved!!!

* I missed my green card interview once because I was out of country, but it was okay.

We went to the USCIS office (InfoPass) after we got back to the States. The officer didn't make any big deal out of it.

He mailed a new interview notice on the same day when we met him.

2/24/09: NA02 APPROVAL... finally, after 9 MONTHS & 8 DAYS!!

5/5/09 : Interview Date APPROVED!!!!

5/8/09: visa received

From NA01 to interview: 12 LONG MONTHS!!

07/23/09: received SSN

08/17/09: Passed Driving test

08/22/09: Married on beautiful Mackinac Island, MI

AOS

08/31/09: Mailed AOS Package

10/20/09: Received AP

10/21/09 Received EAD card

12/7/09 AOS APPROVED!

12/14/09: Green Card arrived in mail. Happy Days!

It's taken 18 months from applying for K1 to receipt of Green Card! Thank God it's over until 12/7/11

Here we go again...

Congratulations on the GC.

I would just like to ask people around here, how many people got asked for pictures? I'm just asking because someone might ready your post and get a bit nervous if their interviewer asked them about pictures.

Adjustment of Status

11/03/10 ------- AoS (I-130/I-485) Package mailed out (Priority Mail)

11/07/10 ------- AoS Package received and singed for

11/10/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (emails)

11/12/10 ------- NOA1 received for I-130, I-485 and I-765 (hard copies)

11/12/10 ------- Touches on I-130, I-485 and I-765

11/19/10 ------- Biometrics appointment letter received

12/06/10 ------- RFE for I-693 (I think the issue is that it was not signed. Called USCIS and will receive a letter in a few days explaining)

12/13/10 ------- Biometrics done

12/16/10 ------- EAD card in production (email)

12/20/10 ------- Received "Letter of Explanation" for RFE (Service Request to expedite my case. Called USCIS and was told to ignore that and just send in response to RFE.)

12/22/10 ------- Touch (Email for Post Decision Activity on EAD saying that a letter of approval has been mailed out)

12/24/10 ------- Received EAD in the mail

12/27/10 ------- Applied for SSN

12/31/10 ------- Received Interview letter

01/03/11 ------- Received SSN card in the mail

01/07/11 ------- Mailed out response to RFE (I-693)

01/15/11 ------- Email confirming USCIS received RFE response

01/31/11 ------- Approved!

Pre-Adjustment of Status:

2006 -------- Met Online

02/07 ------- Visited him in the U.S. for what was suppose to be a few weeks (Came in with birth certificate and health card. Health card expired a few months after)

08/07 ------- Decided to get married because we didn't want to be apart (in the U.S.)

10/10 ------- USCIS Medical Done
