Do they ask for or read the stuff you bring with you to the interview?

I asked at another thread regarding what to bring to the interview (submitted docs, evidence showing bonafide marriages, etc.) and have gotten a lot of good feedback. Here is one important question: How much of what you bring turn out to be useful in the interview?

How often do they ask for these things and how much of the things you brought have been read through by the CO? Are we bringing these things just in case but most of the time they don't bother asking for it? (I understand and agree this is important regardless of whether they end up being used or not but I am still curious)

If you read my timeline at the bottom is the story of our interview. I always recommend you bring as much with you as you can because it's just safer and the more wise thing to do.

I think it somewhat depends on how you come across in those first few minutes when you submit the needed documents, as well as the embassy and the CO. In our case, they didn;'t want to see any of my bonafide marriage stuff, and only took about half of the financial support document I brought (I brought a lot os my husband sponsored me on assets alone).

I prepared all sorts of documents as evidence of a bonafide relationship (joint documents, affidavits, photos, etc) and they did not ask to see any of it

those of you who went to sydney for the interviews... is it ok for me to bring it in a shoe box?

i mean, for security reasons dont they take everything off you at the level 10 security point?

i have a shoe box full of about 5 photo albums, which are all very neat but hard to carry without the aid of a box.. and then i have a big green folder full of every document under the sun!!

Getting back to the OP's question: "It depends on the consulate and on the consular personnel." Be thankful that you're not dealing with Ecuador, where you can count on them not accepting what you bring, with the response of "Not enough evidence -- go away!" and then, when you return with cartloads of evidence, "Too much evidence -- go away!"

And please create a timeline!!! People who are trying to help you are truly hampered in answering people who don't have a timeline.

All bags have to be left at the security check so I don't think they will allow boxes through either. Just take out the folder and a photo album and you should be fine. And chances are they won't even ask to see it

In our experience they do look at and read everything you bring with. We submitted a ton of e-mails and chat transcripts along with pictures and letters and affidavits and I'm certain they read everything.

A lot of people will tell you to edit what you supply them, by edit I mean not submit chats that might show a fight or something like that. We went with the opposite thought process, I wanted to show them that we argue and I wanted to show them that we resolve them.
