My other hated favorite... "It will happen, just be patient."

I haven't gotten that one so much yet... but I know it's coming. I sit and listen to my brother and his friends go on about their girlfriends and how they only get to see them every few days, and I'm like "Okay, but remember this: there's always someone out there that has it a lot worse than you do." and that usually gets them to be quiet, lol. (in defense, my brother and his friends are all 18 and fresh out of high school, lol)

On a random note: Visa agression is best dealt with by owning Hordies in WoW. My pvp has gotten considerably better since I filed. :D:dance:

Sorry, slightly off topic there. Umm.... BOO MONTREAL. :( GIVE PEOPLE THEIR INTERVIEWS GOSH DARN IT!

My other hated favorite... "It will happen, just be patient."

oh yeah. A family member was in the US on a work visa, and said it took a lonnnng time to get it, and that I just have to be patient. Okay. But going for a job is not the same as going for love, and having to be apart this long, continuing the long distance for a whole 'nother year (we petitioned in January 2009)... no, I WILL NOT BE PATIENT.

I am trying to accept what is, accept the uncertainty, and try to focus on what I can and have to do right now. We're doing a legal marriage and then planning a ceremony for later in the spring. Or in other words, not trying to plan a wedding to be within 90 days of a flippin' moving target that keeps getting farther away.

Ok, so you may or may not have read that I called DOSlow this morning and they were closed.

Well Varba just called and apparently the reason they were closed is because they were having a staff meeting about the consulate in Montreal.

Apparently the consulate is VERY understaffed. A lot of people quit over the summer or just stopped coming in to work. They are currently backlogged 4 months and are trying their best to push everyone though.

I hope this helps alleviate any concerns.

They also told Varba I should be right on the edge of getting my interview date :)

In due time everything will speed up

Ugh I hate that...Are you in the states yet? When do you leave? Whens the big day...worst is that these ppl are all on my facebook so if they actually paid attention to my status updates they would see that no, I haven't gone yet (or before that no, still no interview) that I dont know when the big day is or when I get to leave. Totally frusterating...and then you try to explain it and they kind of just tune it out and ask the same same question next week!

Part of me is wishing I could get my fiance to move out west so his consulate could be in Vancouver. Are the US consulates in Canada like the Service Centers are here in the States -- where you HAVE to go through the one that's "closest" to you (or, in the States' case, the one your state is assigned to)????

I haven't even gotten NOA2 yet, and I'm already worried that my projected wedding date is going to go up in smoke. :( I feel horrible for those that have been waiting longer, too... :/

Does your fiance have a friend that lives there or relative? There was a VJ'er a few years ago that lived in Ontario, and had an Uncle living in Surrey. He put in a change of address to his Uncle's house, and requested a change of Consulate. He had his Uncle open any correspondence. After he he was given his interview date. He flew out to Vancouver, stayed with his Uncle, while he attended this interview, got his visa, then went back to Ontario. I believe he was unemployed at the time, so was able to keep up the facade of living in Surrey. I don't think there was anything "illegal" about what he did.

The ones that piss me off are "You must have done something wrong." and "Well if you would have hired a lawyer...".

People have no clue what it feels like to go through this, and no idea what is involved but just assume that since it's taking longer than it should that Peachey and I screwed up somehow.

Grr.

I think the worst is just not knowing

Amen.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Unfortunately, he doesn't. His family is all in Southern Ontario. :( Not to mention that he's got a pretty decent job -- though he keeps joking about going to Montreal and applying to work at the Consulate. "Maybe I could interview myself!" Heh... silly man.

My parents don't believe that the government actually takes this long, and keep mentioning that Spoom or I must've filled something out incorrectly - or that we're overreacting when we say we don't know when we'll have an interview. My mom says things like "Oh, I knew you should've gotten a lawyer from the start of this. You'd probably be done by now." It's the most frustrating thing in the world to not have someone who's *seen* the amount of paperwork and grief that goes into the process understand that we have absolutely no control over how quickly (or NOT) it gets done.

*ahem* /end rant.

The worst is absolutely not knowing. And not being able to plan anything accordingly.

Living in a small city like I do is awful. I work at a small mom-and-pop computer store/internet cafe and every single customer who comes in while I'm out in Florida (as I happen to disappear every couple of months) is told my exact situation, etc... So whenever I return, I get the whole "aren't you gone yet?" speech from people who, by rights, shouldn't even know where it is I'm going...

Oh yes, the government can do no wrong. I love when I hear this, especially from folks who do nothing but rant about the Canadian government. These are the ones who turn around and tell me that I must've done something wrong with our paperwork, as the US government is much more organized than us north of the border. Mhm...
