NASA Moon Bombing Mission

I just saw this on the news and it scares me a little bit

NASA is announcing a dramatic mission to bomb the moon, named LCROSS Mission.

This Moon Bombing Mission will be broadcast on a Live NASA TV Broadcast (www.nasa.gov/ntv), which will start at 6:15 a.m. EDT/3:15 a.m. PDT on 9th October 2009.

The LCROSS, Lunar CRater Observing and Sensing Satellite, mission will send a missile traveling at twice the speed of a bullet to blast a hole in lunar surface near the moon’s South pole.

NASA is carryying out this mission to see if any water, ice or vapor is revealed in the cloud of debris. The bombing isn’t an act of hostility: it’s all part of our search for water in space, says NASA.

Scientists expect the impact of the powerful Centaur rocket would release a huge plume of moon dust and debris. The moon dust blast should be large enough for amateur scientists to view from Earth through telescopes 10-to-12 inches and larger, says NASA.

I am just worried that the blast will shove the moon off it's course or maybe the moon might break apart or something...

well hey we already tell and try to force every country to do as we say why not tag the planet/star system while its still pretty much open season for any country with the ability to send a ship out there or bomb.........and lets not worry about if that blast will start a domino effect in the way that our planetary and star system has an active roll in even our own planet lineament that makes gravity and seasons livable for earth....

maybe im over dramatizing this ..........but if we carry this out whats to stop other countries from doing something equally stupid could be the beginning of the end

Say What!?!? Have you looked at the moon lately?? Notice those large craters there??? Those were caused by extremely large meteors. Over 1000 times as large as any little splash any atomic device could ever make there.

Looks to me like the moon is still there and not suffering from any break up...

You were paying attention in high school in your Physics and Calculus classes??? Right???
