Recklessness or criminal negligence. Well, I think they could have a case. I just read an article a few minutes ago that Cheney was already charged with not posessing the proper stamp to be hunting those birds.

Figures that Cheney will get off scot-free. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department isn't even fining Cheney or his hunting partner for not having a valid hunting stamp on their licenses. They're just "citing" them. This is all so typical of this Administration. It seems everyone there is untouchable, and above the law. <_<

The $7 requirement is a new requirement, and the Wildlife Dept is citing everyone for it right now. They haven't fined anyone for it yet, as it is a new requirement.

They were on private property and probably didn't realize it was required. What's he supposed to get the electric chair for not having correct stamp on his hunting license. They fined him and probably all that would happen to anyone else for not having the hunting stamp.

I think that sounds like our VP... anyone else think that also?

I thought that when you accidentally killed someone (like hit someone in your car or whatever) it was manslaughter. If not, then what is manslaughter?

Manslaughter: Involuntary

Involuntary manslaughter usually refers to an unintentional killing that results from recklessness or criminal negligence, or from an unlawful act that is a misdemeanor or low-level felony (such as DUI). The usual distinction from voluntary manslaughter is that involuntary manslaughter (sometimes called "criminally negligent homicide") is a crime in which the victim's death is unintended. For example, Dan comes home to find his wife in bed with Victor. Distraught, Dan heads to a local bar to drown his sorrows. After having five drinks, Dan jumps into his car and drives down the street at twice the posted speed limit, accidentally hitting and killing a pedestrian.

They will sweep it under the rug.

Surely manslaughter. Isn't that what you're charged with when your actions cause the death of someone?

It was totally accidental, so he isn't going to be charged with anything.

What if it came out that he was drunk at the time?

They started by not even reporting the problem until Cheney had enough time to "sleep it off".

Tho' lovers be lost, love shall not... and death shall have NO dominion!

Yep, they'll probably sweep it under the rug....sort of like they've been looking the other way concerning the top democrat/murderer Ted Kennedy.

kaydee,

Should Ted Kennedy have been booked for what he did at Chappaquiddick?

Anticipating that you will say "yes" (as would I), let me ask you this as follow-up...

If Whittington were to die, why shouldn't Cheney be booked for what he did?

Simple. One was criminally negligent by driving drunk, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, lying about it the following day, and more; the other was just an accident.

What you are doing, kaydee, is presuming the worst about a Democrat and presuming the best about a Republican. There are many unanswered questions about the Cheney incident and the fact that you are so willing to label it "just an accident" at this point betrays that your loyalty is not to the truth, but to the GOP.

Not assuming anything. Do some research. It is a well known fact that he (Kennedy) did all that I have said, including not mentioning anything had happened the following morning to friends; of course only to rebut his own story later on the advice from his attorney when faced with the reality that they had found his car.

Fact: He has always denied that he was driving drunk. No one has ever proved anything to the contrary.
