CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President

####### Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot lodged in his heart and he had a "minor heart attack," a hospital official said Tuesday.

Peter Banko, the hospital administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, said Harry Whittington had the heart attack early Tuesday while being evaluated.

He said there was an irregularity in the heartbeat caused by a birdshot pellet, and doctors performed a cardiac catheterization. Whittington expressed a desire to leave the hospital, but Banko said he would probably stay for another week.

Whittington, a prominent Republican attorney from Austin, was accidentally sprayed with shotgun pellets when Cheney was aiming for a quail Saturday.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Surely manslaughter. Isn't that what you're charged with when your actions cause the death of someone?

It was totally accidental, so he isn't going to be charged with anything.

I thought that when you accidentally killed someone (like hit someone in your car or whatever) it was manslaughter. If not, then what is manslaughter?

I agree with you i think it accidental manslaughter is the offical charge and you get usually less than a life term

They will sweep it under the rug.

Isn't that the truth? I remember seeing on the news last night how they were trying every way possible to shift the blame on the poor guy who was shot. Like, oh, he shouldn't have done this or that...well, that may very well be true, but it seems way over the top in attempts to just completely allieve the VP of all responsibility whatsoever.

Manslaughter: Involuntary

Involuntary manslaughter usually refers to an unintentional killing that results from recklessness or criminal negligence, or from an unlawful act that is a misdemeanor or low-level felony (such as DUI). The usual distinction from voluntary manslaughter is that involuntary manslaughter (sometimes called "criminally negligent homicide") is a crime in which the victim's death is unintended.

For example, Dan comes home to find his wife in bed with Victor. Distraught, Dan heads to a local bar to drown his sorrows. After having five drinks, Dan jumps into his car and drives down the street at twice the posted speed limit, accidentally hitting and killing a pedestrian.

What if it came out that he was drunk at the time?

They started by not even reporting the problem until Cheney had enough time to "sleep it off".

Or high on crack. Of course if there is more to the story he could be charged with something, but as the facts stand now, it was just his stupity of not look where he was shooting.

We were talking at work yesterday about what if it had been that guy had shot Cheney and I said I wonder how many Secret Service bullets that guy would have in him.
