We actually ended up staying up late and eating the turkey sandwiches last night!

As there was pumpkin pie and egg nog consumed yesterday, I decided I will make a pumpkin/egg nog pie for Christmas, decided those flavours would be great together. I just had a quick look and there are many recipes for it, so surprisingly I am not the only person who has thought of this

I just thought this topic needed reviving. You can never talk tooo much about turkey. So i'll start off a new discussion.

Deep fried Turkey, the ultimate bastardization of a pure culinary delight? Discuss.

I think just about every person I know that did the deep fried turkey thing has a fire-related or ER story that accompanies it. You'll hear a lot of "burnt my deck" stories...

I had one once that was really good. But they put a lot of prep work into it and was performed by a trained chef. The other two times I had it were not so well planned out, and generally cooked while drinking heavily.

So I guess Jack Daniels is not a good chef's assistant when cooking.

The thing I think I miss most about turkey dinners is the smell in the house when the turkey is about 3 hours away from being ready. It is just heavenly.

I just plain miss THANKSGIVING! Always had to choose between coming home for Thanksgiving or Christmas over the years, and Christmas always won out. I can't wait to move back home and not miss anymore holidays!!!

ewwww! Don't stuff birds into birds!

Ohhh, I just remembered this little gadget that a friend got for me years ago. It's kind of a redneck thing I suppose, but it's really good. It's for chicken though. It's like a metal holder that you stuff it into the chicken and it has a stand so you can put it on a BBQ grill. The metal part that goes on the inside of the bird is cylindrical in shape and is made to put an open can of beer in it. It sounds gross, but it's really good.
