Hi fellas,

so I and my wife (I am italian, my wife is my US sponsor) are starting the DCF application here in Italy through the Rome/Naples offices.

I would liek you to help us summarize all we have to do:

1. Fill in the I-130 form;

2. Fill in the G-325A form - one for me and one for her;

3. provide my wife's passport copy, her permesso di soggiorno's copy;

4. provide my criminal records (should it be translated into english? if so how and by whom?)

5. enclose 1 picture of me and one of her, us passport size and recent;

and then what?

how do we pay for the 355 usd filing fees? When?

Thanks a lot folks!

Roberto

I thought it started with filing the I-130 and fees at the Consulate. Here's the IV unit phone number - 081 583 8394.

and their website - http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/immigrant/application.asp

DCF'd I-130's doesn't seem to be covered on that page, at all - but I suggest calling the IV unit for EXACT instructions.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

We will do everything by mail, so no consulate needed, right?

Follow the steps described in the VJ DCF Guide. It's recently been updated. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=dcf

The consulate is needed. That is where the interview will take place.

They replied to my emails, thank God! We can file via mail.

One question about I-864. I know that I can sponsor myself through my assets, as per what I understand in the I-864 form, right? If I co-own an apartment valued 100.000 euros with my uncle, and that apartment is on sale, can I use that as an asset? What another apartment I co-own with my dad?

thanks!

If your documents are in italian, they don't need to be translated. They only need to be translated if they are in a language other than the native language in the country you are filing in (for example, if they were french). You can use the apartments, but likely only half the value since they are co-owned by someone else...but double check on that because they could possibly deny those assets since there is a co-owner. No experience in this area, and not heard of anyone doing it, so best to check with the embassy.

Hi Rob,

I am thinking of going through the same path, DCF in Italy. I wanted to ask what are the requirements to prove the in Italy residency of the American Sponsor. Do they want specific documents? Or simply a certificate of residence will do? Also, do they require any minimum period of residence, like for example at least 6 months etc? Any color on this would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot

You need a Certificato di Residenza or Permesso/Carta di Soggiorno; in the case of the Certificato di Residenza, it must show that you have been living in Italy for 6 months. For the Permesso/Carta di Soggiorno, it has to show a date of entry into Italy at least 6 months prior to your application being sent.
