Romney was the best candidate the GOP had last year. I am glad he didn't win the nomination. He could have swung PA and FL. Maybe even forced the Obama campaign into spending more than they planned to win NJ and MA.

Romney was the best candidate the GOP had..... until he opened his mouth. The man cannot debate. He is also as prone to verbal gaffs as Joe Biden. Furthermore, the religious right will NEVER embrace him.

The reason your comments are irrelevant is because it wouldn't matter who the GOP nominated (unless it was Lincoln Chaffey) you would still call them braindead for lack of a better response.

There were a couple good candidates and Fred was a good one. Destroyed Romney and Huckabee in the debates. Just ran a bad campaign.

The religious right pretty much has the Republican party by its balls. Which is why candidates like Sarah Palin actually have a chance at getting the nomination and why it will have a hard time regaining the presidency.

People have been burned by Bush as a candidate who won largly with the support of the religious right and are demanding more than just a conservative stance on moral issues. Of which the Republicans are still lacking substance (It has to be more than just cutting taxes for the rich and everything will be better).

More implied advice for the Republican party by the Godless left. Become more like democrats and you can win!! YEAH SURE!! 56 million voted against Obama. But you tend to leave that out.

So less than 25% of all eligible voters votes for McCain. Not sure what your point is.

Romney ain't pretty either.

Sarah's pretty.

Apparently in our entertainment-over-substance culture being pretty is all you need.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

The Godless Left

I like to say anything that P$$es them off.

I hate to break it to you, but Jesus was a socialist. He said, "You're rich? Sell your stuff and give it to the poor." This is the polar opposite of capitalism, genius. Jesus would also would advocate spending time and "educating" those who have not received the "truth", not pissing them off and alienating them. Maybe if the more vocal christians didn't tend to be a-holes who seem to unaware of what the bible actually teaches the left wouldn't have a any firepower. The federal government was designed by the constitution to be neutral so that people in this country could be free to believe what they want without fear. Now we have to worry about people who believe the end of the world is coming being in charge of our nuclear stockpile. Religious preference in a personal matter, not a government matter. There's more to life than breathing exclusively through your mouth and listening to Nickelback.

Incidentally, I tend to fall on the conservative side of the spectrum, so I'm not some Obama follower. I'm not a democrat, but I find it totally impossible to be a republican.

Jesus was for charity, not government run programs. Charity isn't socialism. Nice try though.

If thats the case, then less than 30% of eligible voters went for Obama.. Not sure what YOUR point is.

I believe the point is that the GOP is deeply divided.

Methinks not. The dems don't need the repubs one bit to pass their little Healthcare takeover, and yet they still haven't passed anything. Why? Because they are not united.

That doesn't disprove what I said.

The original post is to impugne the GOP and show the Dems in a favorable light. Sorry it doesn't work.

The OP is all about Romney.

I didn't mean that one. I meant the one we're on a tangent about.

Oh I see - the one that doesn't mention the Democrat party in any ways whatsoever, and where the poster you accused of being a Liberal is in fact not?

I don't see what's so unreasonable about it - its not a stretch to imagine why the GOP couldn't agree on a better candidate for the last election and why McCain/Palin couldn't put together a coherent campaign platform.

There's no need to get defensive about it, especially if you don't support them. No shame at all in admitting that the GOP seems to have lost its Mojo of late.

No no, I'm not defending them. They definitely aren't united and have no mojo.

As I've said before, any comments I make about Republicans are more to show that there is either hypocrisy in the comment or that the Dems are no more united.

If you agree with it then why did you make issue with what was said?

I didn't - I took issue that the Repubs were being singled out in the comment above yours. It really had little to do with you re-affirming what the other guy said.

Basically - If the dems think they are safe in the upcoming elections then let a dead dog lie.

But the thread is essentially about the GOP...

Is there some unwritten law whereby if someone posts something about one party, they must write a bit about the other as well so as to appear fair and balanced?

Yes that law is written.
