You guys are going to love me for this. I have decided to create an "All news Mitt Romney" thread!!! I will update all current news up through his 2012 bid for the presidency! This should develop into a very very very long thread with many pages to come!!! The way I see it we might as well get to know our next president now...Enjoy!!!!!!

Romney goes on fundraising tear - The Hill

By Reid Wilson - 10/05/09 12:20 PM ET Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney ® is fundraising his way across the country, raising suspicions that the 2008 presidential contender is gearing up for another run.

Romney held fundraisers for his Free and Strong America political action committee in three states and the District of Columbia in September, and he will hold two more in Texas and Missouri this week, a spokesman confirmed to The Hill."Mitt Romney is doing what he can to strengthen the Republican Party nationally and help its candidates be successful, and that is going to take up more and more of his time as we get deeper into the 2010 cycle," spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said.

Romney has made his presence felt in Virginia and New Jersey, two states where Republicans believe they have the chance to pick up governor seats.

Romney hosted fundraisers for Virginia governor candidate Bob McDonnell, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and state delegate candidate Barbara Comstock in September, and he will host an event for the Republican Governors Association and former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie ® in New Jersey on Oct. 12.

Last month, Romney also held a fundraiser for Republicans running for the Georgia state House. In a western swing, he raised money for his PAC by surrounding himself with prominent Republicans; Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the man who beat Romney in the 2008 primary, hosted a fundraiser with Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) in the Copper State, while Gov. Gary Herbert ® hosted Romney in Utah.

On Friday, Romney will join Gov. Dave Heineman ® for the Nebraska Republican Party's Founder's Day celebration. Later this month, he has a fundraiser planned for House Republicans in Massachusetts, and he will raise money for ex-Rep. Rick Lazio ®, who is running for governor of New York.

Romney will also assist one of his early backers in the presidential contest, Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah). Bennett's reelection is in jeopardy thanks to the Beehive State's convention system, and several more conservative candidates are considering running against the three-term Republican. Romney will hold a fundraiser for Bennett on Oct. 26 in Boston.

Should the former Massachusetts governor decide to run for president a second time, his team from the 2008 race would be largely intact. Veterans of the first race have stayed close, and they frequently get together when their former boss is in town.

But elsewhere, that team spirit is generating some concern. State-level strategists question whether Romney has understood what went wrong during the first race, and they insist some problems need to be addressed.

"I like Romney," said one strategist from the 2008 campaign who has yet to sign up with a 2012 contender. "But a lot depends on what changes he makes to his team, and changes are absolutely necessary."

Romney focuses on 2010 races, talks health care in Omaha

By MARK ANDERSEN / Lincoln Journal Star | Posted: Friday, October 9, 2009 8:20 pm

OMAHA - Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney headlined a sold-out state Republican Founders Day Celebration on Friday, saying President Barack Obama was bringing change as promised but of the wrong kind.

Obama isn't just moving away from the policies of former President George W. Bush, Romney said, but taking the country back to the time of President Harry Truman, "moving the United States away from its role as ardent advocate of democracy and civil rights to one where it is more of a neutral arbiter."

Romney told reporters of his plans for the speech before the dinner, which was closed to reporters.

The crowd of 600 at Omaha's DoubleTree Hotel raised $100,000 for the state Republican war chest, with tickets ranging from $65 to $500 per seat. The sum was slightly more than the $89,000 Romney raised in Nebraska for his failed 2008 presidential bid.

The former governor of Massachusetts is considered by some to be the probable early front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, should he choose to enter the race. Romney said Friday he was not looking beyond his current efforts to secure Republican victories in key Senate and gubernatorial races in 2010.

Outside the hotel, about 20 protesters held signs saying "Reform Now" and "$5,000 will buy a lot of health care," the latter referring to the $5,000 price tag for a table of 10.

Reporters also focused their questions on health care reform, including a provision of the Massachusetts health plan requiring everyone to have health insurance, adopted while Romney was governor.

"The idea of everybody being included makes sense," Romney said.

He had originally proposed, he said, that people be required to carry insurance or prove that they had the means to pay for their own care. State lawmakers rejected the second part, he said.

Romney said he does not support someone who can afford health insurance going without it, receiving health care without paying, thus forcing doctors and hospitals to pass those costs on to others.

But in Massachusetts, he said, everyone was insured through private companies, not a public plan, which he called an opening for a single-payer option, typically referred to as socialized medicine. The state's plan also did not break the bank, he said.

Romney added he was not advocating the Massachusetts model be forced on the rest of the country. Instead, he proposed, states should be allowed to create their own plans, "not propose a one-size-fits-all for every state in America and unfunded mandates."

Romney denied that Republicans have limited their role to blocking health reform efforts.

"The Republican Party has put out a lot of health care plans," he said. Only Massachusetts has got everyone insured, he said. "Republicans have led on this."

Democrats, the party in power, have not attempted to craft a bipartisan health reform measure, Romney said.

If Obama were to propose simply that insurance companies be unable to drop coverage for those who get sick, that there be no discrimination for pre-existing conditions, reforms could be easily approved, he said.

For health reform to succeed, Romney said, "The president doesn't need one Republican vote."

What has delayed the approval of Democratic reform plans, he said, is that some Democrats "are hearing what's being said across the country, that a government takeover of health care is not acceptable."

Romney is "RINO" if ever there was, he does seem like a serious flip-flopper, and putting him in the white-house would give us a repeat of the worst parts of Bush.

Who did you vote for in the primaries?

I didn't.

That's a great way to advance your agenda.

What was wrong with Mike Huckabee? He seems to be well aligned with the agenda of true conservatives.

Huckabee was a loon. Sorry - he believed in reparations, raised taxes and fees in Arkansas, and has a record that isn't pretty.

Romney ain't pretty either.

Thats why i voted for Fred Thompson in the primaries. A lost cause, but a good one.
