Central Florida, west coast. 1 hour northwest of Tampa. It's called "the Nature Coast" in the area where I live and north of here, because it's naturey and coasty. ;) We have a little river that starts at a cold water spring with manatees in it!! Lots of single family homes, that's mostly what it is. I'm not going to tell you the negative aspects, but it doesn't really involve the people. Though it's mostly northerners here. But once they move here, they calm down a little. lol.

Sounds good. Are there jobs there? (Asking seriously, not facetiously.)

There are lots in the medical field. Not a lot available in other major fields because it is filled with retirees, but all those retirees get medical care. My husband used to have to drive an hour to Tampa for his job. But he got a job a year ago only 9 miles from here, in our county, working for a state/local governmental regulatory agency(deals with water management, research, etc). It's been nice.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

What is "LA Culture" BY? Do you know how big LA is, how many towns and communities there are out there?

To suggest that there's one single overarching culture endemic to that entire city is factually and utterly wrong.

You don't know what you are talking about. Then again we have been down this road before. On a simply level, anyone who has spent a week in LA and a week in NYC would notice the differences. I am not just talking weather either.

To suggest that there is not prevalent culture because you 'believe' you're an individual is wrong. You're certianly not like any Britt I have met or know, I'll give you that much. That doesn't mean there isn't a prevalent culture in London. For starters, the US likes NFL, UK likes soccer.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I wonder if BY has been to Brixton, Hackney, Dagenham or Barking...

He has been everywhere. Except Boston. He'd get his #### kicked at KFC.

So lets translate this into vernacular. You've spent a long layover in L.A. once and seen many shows on t.v. about L.A., thus making you a cultural expert.

Oh please spare me the throwaway anecdotal rubbish - I'm from London, BY. I lived and worked in that area for 26 years - I think I know a little better than you what it is like ;)

The only thing that really differentiates London from NYC are the historical landmarks, the architecture and the cultural influence in some of the neighbourhoods. In most other respects London (especially Central London) isn't a whole lot different from Manhattan. And yes - London has its share of ghetto residential neighbourhoods too.

You're either lying or stupid. Next you are going to tell me the fashion sense is the same. Or better yet, the taste in food and music.

So this is cool in London too right?

How's about you drop the ####### and just answer my question. What is the prevalent culture in LA, BY?

The reason I asked, BY is because I lived in LA myself. For two years... and I can tell you for nothing that its a very diverse city. So I'd be curious to know what this overall "LA Culture" you're talking about actually amounts to...

Never said that did I.

No, but you speak about it as if you think you do. Lets face it BY, you don't know sh!t about L.A. other than the trite you read in the throwaway mags.

Now you're just being silly - why on Earth would I lie, BY? What would I possibly gain from it?

I have lived and worked in London, I currently work in New York. There is urban sprawl in both cities - which is why I asked earlier if you'd ever been to those London Boroughs.

Now if you had been to those places, then you'd know that the picture you posted above wouldn't be out of place in any of those districts. There are a lot of run down residential neighbourhoods in London - tower block council estates, urban housing projects etc. etc. etc.

The financial center of London is about as representative of what the city is like as Manhattan is of the entire NY metropolitan area.

Not sure about "nasally" accents. You'd hear a lot of NY accents with other northern state accents here and there. But then there are people from Ohio and the midwest too.

Anyway it's probably better for you to go back to Australia, whiner! You haven't even lived anywhere else besides the NE and you already think you know that it's hard to find normal people in the US.

Cannot stand the NY nasally accent. You know, block your nose and speak.

I have traveled to a number of places but not lived outside the NE. I have not spent much time on the west coast either.

You should try it. Only the strong survive in the NE. It's not for everyone.

More like the laughing stock of humanity.

If you really think about it, that's a ridiculous thing to say. NYC and other areas of the NE have been influencing the world for a long time. It is the fighting spirit that has gotten them so far. Maybe you need to meet more people.

That's like a 9/11 denier saying prove to me that Bush didn't do it. Only an idiot would not realize the difference in culture from LA to NYC.
