Hmmm and you're sure you're talking about me here?

That really isn't a very good encapsulation of my views.

Pike come on. We have chatted for years now yet not once have I seen you post about a positive attribute of London, that the US could implement. I mean while I hate the old Victorian looking style in various parts of London, the city is well maintained and clean. People are also quite friendly and normal. You should know for a fact that if I went to London with the ghetto wiggar attitude that is so cool and prevalent here, people would laugh at me. I just find it interesting that someone from such a nice city would not say, it would be nice if Jersey or NYC clean up their city and their streets too. Not a word. Yet when I bring something like this up, you seem to be puzzled by it, like it's not true.

This is the whole problem with you BY - there's not one thing in the above that's an honest assessment of the city of New York or its people. London either for that matter. Its all based on silly preconceptions.

London and NYC aren't really all that different - in many ways they're quite similar.

Australia bans a lot of videogames cuz they are too bloody.. that sucks

They made Bethesda remove the real world drug references from Fallout 3.

and they just banned Left 4 dead 2... that's very gay..

Censorship is silly at the best of times.

But enough to condemn the entire population of the city of Los Angeles as... what was it?

Oh yes - "wankers" I believe was the phrase you used.

Every city, town, and region has its own prevalent culture. It's not rocket science to realize that what is cool and the norm in one place is ridiculed elsewhere. Why do you pretend that people abroad, particularly the UK, would not mock some sort of sunset tan LA type. You now for a fact that the prevalent LA culture is not the norm in London or Paris or Berlin or Rome or Tokyo or Hong Kong or Sydney or Dubai etc. Yet you pretend there is no such thing, let alone difference.

Edited by Booyah!

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yep exact clone

You don't know what you are talking about. The biggest critics of America I have ever met are in London, yet you claim they are mirror images of NYers.

Ah, page 3 stuff. I didn't think that was classifed as porn...

Its pretty much the same in the UK - the top shelf mags in newsagents just show naked chicks. All the hardcore stuff is imported from Holland and Germany - and is illegal under the obscene publications act (I can't believe they haven't done away with that thing)

Not sure about "nasally" accents. You'd hear a lot of NY accents with other northern state accents here and there. But then there are people from Ohio and the midwest too.

Anyway it's probably better for you to go back to Australia, whiner! You haven't even lived anywhere else besides the NE and you already think you know that it's hard to find normal people in the US.

Cannot stand the NY nasally accent. You know, block your nose and speak.

I have traveled to a number of places but not lived outside the NE. I have not spent much time on the west coast either.

You should try it. Only the strong survive in the NE. It's not for everyone.

More like the laughing stock of humanity.

What is "LA Culture" BY? Do you know how big LA is, how many towns and communities there are out there?

To suggest that there's one single overarching culture endemic to that entire city is factually and utterly wrong.

There is porn that is not x rated?

How does that work, exactly???

The same way a lot of filth is restricted there that is acceptable here. Someone obviously reviews it. They also have a net filter that prevents people from accessing filth.

Oh please spare me the throwaway anecdotal rubbish - I'm from London, BY. I lived and worked in that area for 26 years - I think I know a little better than you what it is like ;)

The only thing that really differentiates London from NYC are the historical landmarks, the architecture and the cultural influence in some of the neighbourhoods. In most other respects London (especially Central London) isn't a whole lot different from Manhattan. And yes - London has its share of ghetto residential neighbourhoods too.

No, he knows more about London than you do. His flight stopped there for refueling once, making him an expert.
