BANGKOK — Norway enjoys the world's highest quality of life, while Niger suffers the lowest, a U.N. agency said Monday, as it released a ranking that highlights the wide disparities in well-being between rich and poor countries.

The annual Human Development Index, unveiled in Bangkok by the United Nations Development Program, takes into account life expectancy, literacy, school enrollment and per capita gross domestic product in 182 countries.

...

Norway was followed by Australia and Iceland on the list, which drew on statistics dating from 2007, before Iceland was hit hard in global economic crisis.

...

The United States was listed 13th.

Moved to 2nd while the US dropped to 13.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yeap. Why the hell are you still here, you must be stupid.

End of year is my deadline to move back. Who wants to be surrounded by a bunch of 13th place losers.

I've been hearing that for years.

If it wasn't for my job, we would have moved yesterday. Certainly not here because of how awesome the lifestyle up here in the shithole known as the NE is.

I am sure a man as interesting and intelligent and capable as yourself can find a much better job in Australia.

I hope Matt saw on the news that Australia was the first G20 country to increase their interest rates today. They're on fucken fire.

Hey, at least in NE places like Jersey, you have ghetto attitude. Too bad you cannot convert this into a higher standard of living.

Nah, I have only lived in the NE; which I absolutely hate and cannot stand. NYC to DC should be bulldozed.

Where is that?

Central Florida, west coast. 1 hour northwest of Tampa. It's called "the Nature Coast" in the area where I live and north of here, because it's naturey and coasty. ;) We have a little river that starts at a cold water spring with manatees in it!! Lots of single family homes, that's mostly what it is. I'm not going to tell you the negative aspects, but it doesn't really involve the people. Though it's mostly northerners here. But once they move here, they calm down a little. lol.

It's not the congestion or pace, just the people in between these cities are fuckwits. A hell of a lot of people have contracted the ghetto I am top ###### attitude. When really the majority are piss poor and a joke.

People in the south and Midwest are 100 times more normal than these weirdos with an attitude.

What's with this "my country is the best" stuff all the time.

The way BY carries on you'd think he *was* Australia and that its successes make him personally better than other people.

I really don't get his attitude.

Does their shitty nasally accent disappear?

The only way I would stay in the US is if I found a decent city, that has normal people in it. I know in the US this is asking a lot but there must be normal folks out there. The city has to be modern, as I cannot stand the sorry state many cities are in, and livable. Also a city that does not have a prevalent Jay Z / ghetto thug culture.

Or should I just try Canada or move back to Aus?
