Does anyone know if there is a way around the big medical exam expenses in Paris?!

I know we have to go see one of the doctors stated in the Embassy check-list, and apparently some X-rays have to be done (lungs??). I have heard of a total fee of 160-200€ not reimbursed by health insurance.

Can I choose the doctor I want for the X-rays and then take them to the Embassy chosen doctor?

Thanks in advance.

No, you can only go to the embassy-approved doctors - the list should be available at the embassy website.

The only way to get around high cost is if you get the missing vaccinations ahead of time and show proof of getting them to the doctor at the medical exam. You still have to pay for the medical exam, no going around that.

Boo that sucks! :crying:

No way to have the x-rays done somewhere else, sure?!

Yes, pretty sure. Just be glad you're not doing the medical in Norway, they charge 480 dollars for the medical, 100 dollars for the x-ray PLUS vaccinations. I was reading up on procedures for the medical as well, and the only way to do this is to follow the guidelines of the embassy you're working with. Doesn't make our wallets very happy, does it?

No way around it, there is a list of doctors produced by the embassy, you have to use one of them. Slattery is the best, and close to the embassy, that is where my husband is going next week.

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.

Ok then I stop complaining, I guess that France isnt too bad :)

You're moving to America.

Get used to paying for medical services. It's a far cry from what you are used to in France.

I know, it is psychologically really hard for a French girl to imagine it

Well I just wanted to wish you good luck with the medical, whether it's expensive or not :star:

Here's what I can share coming from another member here who's gone thru the examination in Paris:

The fee is $170 which only includes check up, blood test (for HIV and Syphillis) and the chest X-ray. You can't wave these services. If you need vaccinations, you will pay extra. The following are the list of standard vaccines they look for (I suggest you get them and ask for a letter from your doctor stating you got them already):

For Tetanos diphteria and polio

Rougeole (measles I think)

Rubeole (rubella?)

Oreillons (mumps?)

Varicelle (Chickenpox)

I hope this helps.

Did you (or fiancé) have to see 1 of their doctors? Is your medical done yet??? Where do you have to go for the exam in Paris?

Thanks for any info!

Yes, you have to see "1 of their doctors," i.e., one of the panel physicians approved by the consulate and listed on the instructions. See Paris Heart's post above for a recommendation.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

This will come in Packet 4 (see attached). There are only 3 doctors in Paris that are approved by the embassy. Applicants must make an appointment with one of these doctors only.
