AbuS has yet to learn to drive. All ya'll who taught your husbands, you have my admiration. Me, I'm getting him driving lessons as an anniversary gift and inshaAllah his friends will follow through on their promises to help him practice. No way in heck am I teaching anyone to drive! It would bring out my mother in me and that's something I want to keep well buried as long as possible.

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

I have thought about getting my hubby in a driving class too...is it expensive??

I found a school here and it cost $280. That included the 8 hour class and at the end they get a permit. Then 6 additional hours on the road. First class 3 hours of driving, practice and reviewing what they learned at class. Then the last 3 hour class they take the last hour as the final road test. They get a slip of paper if they pass and go to DMV and take a picture and get the license. That was WELL worth the money. Oh, and they get a "good drivers" certificate if they pass the exam with over 90 percent and you submit that to your insurance carrier for a discount. I like that EVEN MORE!

Wow that is awesome Annie...I bet there isn't anything like that around here in this po-dunk town aka BF Egypt.

As a side note...I said something about BF Egypt this weekend and my husband was like "what the heck are you talking about." Of course I had to explain. :) Having a spouse from a totally different culture is great...gives you a lot to talk about! I mean, Egypt isn't so far for him so it was kinda funny!

LOL Amanda! I say the same thing. The first time he just looked at me strange as if I was mispronoucing an Egyptian city in Arabic. When I explained it he said why would you say those words together "bum" to him a street person, and of course he knows F. Never tried to break the word down before...kinda funny how that happens!

Those whose hubbys who dont drive, how do they get to work? Im pretty sure had sofyan not got his license shortly after he came we would be divorced right now. Relying on his wife for 4 years to taxi him around would have never worked lol... I taught him how to drive and yes it sucked but it needed to be done.

I cant believe its only Tuesday. This week is draggin. I want Wednesday to come and go.. My twin sis is coming in Friday with her 2 month old. cant WAIT to see em.

I think I'm getting writers block and this is a bad time. I have two papers due tomorrow. One explaining why black civil rights made little progress after the civil war and why it was more successful after WWII. The other is comparing white Christianity, African American Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. Somehow I have to tie in all those religions together. I wrote up the religion paper already but need to do a lot of editing. The civil rights paper is slowly being written now (I have all my notes together for it, just trying to piece it all in). On top of this I spent the weekend working on another paper explaining why the Arabs lost the 1948 war which is due on Thursday. My mind is turning to mush and the most simple sentences are becoming difficult to construct, lol. Why do all these papers have to be due at the same time???? Argh!

Tam, if you guys go to NYC ( midtown Manhattan to be precise) you'll have to stop by my husband's place of employment. He'll hook youse guys up. :D

Adam and I took off 3-4 days the last week of Oct. We feel like taking a trip somewhere but not sure exactly yet. Hes wanting to fly out to NY. Im thinking about going somewhere cold like Colorado or maybe a place that Ive never been. I gotta keep thinking and keep searching for good priced flights somewhere.

I get excited by just reading these topics - I so miss school...Writing papers was my all time favorite part of the learning process...I'd love to get Masters one day but I'm too terrified of GRE and I don't think I could manage with the long hours at the office..maybe one day... :crying:

Congratulations. It drove me crazy when I was the only one who could drive. In fact my husband got his license after being here three months but I couldn't get him to drive alone until he had been here about 7 months. I was so happy when I could finally get him to go by himself and save me trips.

I love to write as well. I just feel drained this time from too many papers being due at once. I haven't even mentioned all the tests I had to study for in the last couple weeks. Otherwise I would have tried to do these papers sooner. It can be a lot of fun putting ideas together. I'm just super picky about my writing and hate to turn something in that I don't feel was completed to my standard.
