Hello everyone,

We were just on the Phone with SMEF-COW in CEBU, The gentleman on the phone told us that it is an all day seminar with registration beginning at 7:30, fill out paperwork at 8:am, seminar at 9:30 to noon, counseling at 1:pm, and then to CFO Office/DFA Building for the sticker. On their website they say it's just 2 hours, seems I have been reading the seminar/counseling only takes a couple of hours in Manila.

Also I read on web that they only allow 15 in the class, first come first serve, if you're #16 you come back next day.

Just looking for advice on preferred city for the seminar. We are tired of Manila.

Also was wondering about my wife's CENOMAR. I have my "legal capacity' papers and we have our Marriage Cert but not a CENOMAR for her.

CR1 here, we're married..to make it clear for K1 readers :)

My wife did the seminar in Manila at PRISM at beginning of May and it took about 3 hours.

She can do the seminar but can't get the sticker until after she has her visa in hand.Have her apply for CENOMAR and she'll get the "Advisory on Marriages" since

you guys are married.

We have the Visa in hand already, and the New Passport in her married name, We just don't have a CENOMAR for her.

Technically CENOMAR shouldn't even apply anymore since we are already married and have the SecPa marriage certificate. Just wondering if anyone that is married already was required to produce a CENOMAR at the CFO. They don't list it as required for a married filipina, they just say "other documents as required"

Not required but good to have. You NEVER know what they can ask for at CFO. They asked one of my clients for a certificate of singleness from the US. No such thing.

from personal and friends' experience, manila is quicker for CFO (either PRISM or St. Mary's in QC, offer several sessions a day). but if you're tired (can't blame you) cebu is the only other choice.

if CFO is the last thing on your list and you're in manila anyway...

Claudeth went to the Cebu CFO very early and it was an all day affair but she had to, her plane ticket was for the next day. I think she got there at about 6:00am and was finally finished at about 7pm.

I had my CFO in Cebu (St. Mary's). The registration started around 7am and the seminar started at 8:30 to lunch time. Went back at 1pm for the counseling (I call it more of interview and not counseling) and done at 3PM. Went to DFA for the sticker.

In my own opinion, it is better if she will have the visa before attending the seminar so that she no longer have to go back to get the sticker. DFA won't give the sticker unless the visa is already issued.

From what province is your wife? If her flight is from Manila to US, then better have her CFO in Manila the day before her flight. To save time and money. If she's from Cebu, then she better have her seminar in Cebu. Just tell her to be early. I went there at 6 a.m., I was the second one to arrive in the office. The office is opened at 8 am. The staff there will call the applicants one by one and give them forms to fill up. As I've remembered, the questions in the form are:

(Husband's info)

Your job, name of the company, company's address. If self employed then name of your own company/ business. Phone and cell numbers. Your course in college, your home address, birthdate and the rest are basic info about your wife. After filling up the forms, the seminar will start it will only take 2 hours. Then be back in the afternoon for one on one interview. Just simple and basic questions about her and you and your relationship. It will only take 30 minutes. After the one on one interview, they will give her a certificate proving that she attended the seminar already. Then after that she will go to CFO office. 2nd floor at Department of Foreign Affairs DFA. (all taxi drivers know where is DFA in Cebu) Hand them the passport with visa and the certificate then they will put sticker on her passport and she's done. That's it. It's not really one whole day. I was done by 2pm. My advise is that, she should be early.

PS: There's no problem during lunch time because there is a restaurant on the 1st floor of the building.
