Contacted my Senator

Just wanted to share that I had contacted my senator and was referred to our congresswoman. Her aide checked with CSC and while I don't believe from her response that she understood exactly what I was writing about this is her response in part:

"Response from California Service Center is that this case was affected by IMBRA only because of the date it was filed. They acknowledge that the RFE has been received and state that the case will soon be pulled for processing -- although they can't give me a timeframe. I have been asked to check back in 30 days for status and will do just that. I will keep you informed.

Further info... The I-129-F petitions subject to IMBRA are those received March 6,2006 and later. They will be placed in line for processing as soon as responses to the RFEs are received. Processing expected to take 30 to 60 days after receipt of RFE response."

It's really much too soon for you to contact your Senator or Congressman since you filed LESS than two months ago in Vermont. Vermont is not having delays or problems - your petition will be processed in due time. It's California that is experiencing incredible delays where people who filed at the beginnning of MARCH are still waiting for their NOA2.

Sit tight - your approval will come soon and it's definitely not worth contacting a senator - hold off on that until you really need help on your case (hope that isn't necessary!)

A bit of a tip on contacting Senate and House offices, since I work in one:

DON'T EMAIL. The emails go into a massive database, often with thousands of others, which interns have to sort through, send to a staffer, etc. CALL the district office (not Washington office) and ask for the staffer that handles immigration cases. They are the one you want to talk to, and in the case of our office, will always open a case for you and talk to you as soon as they humanly can.

Good luck!

Stabenow and Levin's sites are unusual because I didn't see a privacy form. I would call instead:

Levin: "If your matter is urgent, please call my Detroit office at (313) 226-6020"

Stabenow: (313) 961-4330

Thanks Kitkat.... will phone tomorrow.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.
