According to the instructions you have to put his daughter in the list (same happened to me...hubby has 2 kids, so I did include their names and address). But I have been reading different interview experiences on different forums and somebody's interviewer said it was not necessary. Well, I'd say include her name. Better safe than sorry.

I am completing my N-400 application as we speak. I tried finding an answer before posting this but I read too many things.

Part 9 is asking about your children. Well I dont have any on my own with my husband but he has a daughter.

I did not adopt her. Do I need to list her?

Thanks!!!

If I give my child for Adoption before filing do I have to mention about it or should not at all?

It's right here in the N-400 instructions, even readable.

"Part 9. Information About Your Children.

Write the total number of sons and daughters you have had. Count all of your children, regardless of whether they are:

1. Alive, missing, or dead;

2. Born in other countries or in the United States;

3. Under 18 years old or adults;

4. Married or unmarried;

5. Living with you or elsewhere;

6. Stepsons or stepdaughters or legally adopted; or

7. Born when you were not married.

B. Write information about all your sons and daughters. In the last column (''Location''), write:

1. "With me" - if the son or daughter is currently living with you;

2. The street address and state or country where the son or daughter lives - if the son or daughter is not currently living with you; or

3. "Missing" or "dead" - if that son or daughter is missing or dead.

If you need space to list information about additional sons and daughters, attach a separate sheet of paper."

Yeah, I read that post where the IO scratched that out, that IO is an idiot. But better to have it scratched out than to omit it.

Can only speculate as to why they want this information, maybe to learn if you will be bringing somebody else here. Seven out of the eight kids listed on my wife's form where natural born USCs', her IO didn't have a problem with that. But still had to say, holy something or another.
