What if the applicant has a history of PTB, treated for 6 months and currently clear on CXR with other hospitals, will they still require the sputum smear? Comparative CXR films are available if needed.

What if the applicant has a history of PTB from the last 18 years, treated for 6 months and was cleared on CXR with her company's annual medical exam from then on and up to this year (recent CXR was last month), will they still require the sputum smear? Comparative CXR films for the last 4 years are available if needed. No scar seen on the recent CXR. Is that possible?

Detailed medical certificate regarding a previously-treated or currently managed clinically significant illness which should contain the following information:

duration and date of treatment

surgical procedure or medical intervention done

complete final diagnosis

outcome of treatment or treatment plans and prognosis, if available

Bring all the necessary documents on your medical exam. But keep in mind that the final decision will be coming from the panel physician and will therefore determine what procedures/testing needed.

hi this thread is very helpful. i just have one question. ive been working in a hospital and took care of patients with TB. will this be a problem in my medical exam? i read that during the medical interview part, they will keep on asking if you have been exposed to a person with TB. im. afraid about the sputum exam because that would mean delay.

any idea, if it will be a problem?

I was exposed to TB patients also for quite sometimes for our clinical duties. But during my medical, i was asked if there's a family member who has TB and if im exposed, i answered NO. So everytime they asked me about it, i said NO. Anyways, they will check your xray, and if its clear, nothing to worry.

I did worry about that also prior to my medical. So to reduce my anxiety level regarding it, i requested for an xray in our affiliating hospital. Thank God its clear. I brought it during my medical, though they didnt even take a glimpse of it, atleast i know im clear.

When asked if you've been exposed, and you have, say "yes". Be truthful about it. If you want to, you can follow-up your answer with a short explanation (e.g. I worked with TB patients in the hospital.) Or something like that.

Bottom-line is, it's your x-ray results that they would check. Whether you reported having a known exposure or not, if they find anything in your x-ray, they will most likely have you go through the sputum tests.

Hospital employees usually have annual physical exams which almost always includes an x-ray. Should you have had one recently, you can use it as a basis so you don't freak out much. If your lungs are clear on your last x-ray within the past year, I guess you can sort of breathe a sigh of relief. Just make sure you don't have coughs and colds during your medical! Good luck!

I'll be having my medical exam tomorrow and I was wondering if having a recent Tetanus Toxide shot will be a problem? I hit my head on the jeepney roof as I was boarding it (I know, clumsy me) and I had a small nick. So, just to be on the safe side, I was given the shot. Will that be okay?

Is the guard stamp different from the stamp at the back of the receipt when you leave the clinic on day one. My receipt has a red stamp already and I was told to come back Monday at 7:15 for my immunization. Does it mean I will not go through sputum test anymore?

If anyone could answer this, I'd appreciate it. I want to know the answer too.
