My visa has not arrived and has not even been sent out yet...what to do??

Hi guys! I spoke to Canada Post today and gave them the tracking number for my visa and passport. They show NOTHING in their system at all. I asked the girl on the phone what that meant and she said that the Consulate has not used my envelope yet. That means that they have not even sent it out yet.

How long should I wait before emailing the Consulate and asking them what's up?

Thanks!

awww... that makes me sad for you. :( At least your plans give you a month leeway before POE though! Did the consulate give you any hint for how long it would take for you to receive the visa?

I would never trust the tracking number. I had my Visa in hand, and the tracking number did not exist on Canada Post's website. So don't go by that, you could get it today or tomorrow for sure.

I would contact them, but I am not speaking as a person who's read all the nitty gritty rules.

I can say however, that if it helps, I'll kick them for screwing around with you even after your interview.

Violence solves everything.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

Send the consult an email with ur case # on subject line. You would not be the first person to receive their visa with canada post tracking # not working!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I'll wait til Wednesday and then email the Consulate. UGH.....so frustrating.

It is - but seriously - it's only been a week and these people work banker's hours. Go ahead and email them for peace of mind if nothing else.

My VISA came and was jammed inside my mail slot at my apartment - they didn't make anyone sign for it, kind of ticked me off because my most important stuff was in that envelope = passport and VISA - but they didn't care

I'm in precisely the same scenario-interview date included! I have a flight home for tonight that I'm thinking will have to be changed...

FYI-I contacted Canada Post re: their cut off for deliveries of Xpresspost envelopes-it's 5pm EST... thought it'd be handy for you to know.

Here's to us both getting our visas today ;)
