Wow, just got a text from the VSC saying my application is approved. No way did I think it would get approved that fast especially since it seems like it takes 3 months to get the NOA2. I thought at first it was a mistake, but seeing other people's timelines now it appears I am not alone. I didn't even start preparing for the next step since I thought I had more time and was going to begin in November. Guess I know what I will be doing this weekend.

Woot!

Congrats!!!!

I was worried at first that they might have moved the group of people off of the I-129F's that they had recently had processing but it looks like they're still there. So I'd say all things going well we all might have our NOA2's at least by the end of November. To me even if it comes in December I'll still treat it like the perfect Xmas present. Better than February which is what I originally thought.

Wow congrats man, you must have luck on your side! whats the next step now after you get approved?

According to the guide on this website I now need to send a copy of the I-129F to my financee, along with an affidavit of support. It also says to send more proof that we continued the relationship since sending it in but it was less than a month ago! I guess the process has sped up recently. Don't really have much proof, all our communication is pretty much through skype and we really only text/email eachother to let the other know we are online (we usually talk online before I head to work in the morning).

I am really glad now that I waited until I did to send it in. The earliest she can come is in May and if I sent it during the summer it would have happened too fast. Now it is time to get in touch with HR to get some proof of employment.

You might want to consider doing video calls on Skype, but actually typing messages to each other instead of talking over the microphone. This is what we started doing.. then, every day, I take a screen shot of us talking on the web cam and the put it into a word document.. when we are done talking I copy and past the entire conversation into the word document..

We were only talking on the mic, but started doing this the minute we filed, so that we had conversation proof to send. We also send an email to each other at least once a week.. just to have something to add to our pile of "relationship proof"

That's a great idea, we already take advantage of the video calls so it won't take too much effort to take a screenshot in the middle of it. Thanks for the advice.

Hello October filers,

What I plan on doing about Skype (because I have the same issue, it's pretty much our only communication way) is to take screenshots of the calls logs, if you go in the display tab then history, you have all the logs of all your calls, date, hours, how long...

Copy pasting into Word is no proof as it can be modified very easily. I strongly believe screenshots are the only way to go.

Same for emails, the screenshots should show the interface which somewhat proves where the file comes from.

Good luck.

Last significant immigration event:

ROC: Approved : 04/17/2013

USCIS works in mysterious ways...

Yes, I've been doing this too.. in addition to the word document.. but forgot to mention that. A word document is not enough, since it can be altered.

We can't use Skype because my work blocks it, but we use MSN, and yes I have been doing a screen shot every time we are on. I think a picture is worth more than a thousand words. Now I am just waiting for our NOA2... Come on VSC, my one-month mark is almost up!!!

I am happy to report that VSC is still putting out the NOA2s. Today I had just started on the first hole of the golf course when my phone indicated I received a text message from USCIS. The text message only said that my case was updated. Well, I certainly wanted to leave the golf course to get home to see what USCIS had done but I was stuck there and it was very hard to concentrate on golf. The first thing I did when I got home was to check my email and there it was from USCIS telling me that my Petition was approved.:thumbs::dance:

I truly believe VisaJourney helped me prepare the petition well and I can not thank the contributors enough. Thanks to this site I am already prepared for the next step and the one after that. Now it is time for me to research what we need to do after my love, Xiyun, arrives in the USA.

First of all, I don't think the overall time frame to get visa is 5 months, I think the 5-month period refers to from NOA1 to NOV2. Correct me if I am wrong.

Now, I am more worried about the process downstream. I think of it this way: let's say the whole process is 12 months, and there are say 5 steps of it, usually from step 2 (NOA1) to step 3 (NOA2) is 5 months, and the rest of the process is total of 7 months. Now let's say from step 2 (NOA1) to step 3 (NOA2) is 1 month, unless the rest of the process speeds up coordinately, those with NOA2 is going to hit another traffic jam down the road, in this case it could be the NVC. Of course this is an extreme case of "hurry up and wait", but from quite a few of the posts, it is possible. In other word, this kind of "speed up" may be, and I say "may be", a temporary stimulus. I surely hope not.

Hey JRSmooth

It is possible you are right but I hope not. I prefer to look at it from the other direction. The historical processing time now shows 186 days from the filing of the I-129F to the K-1 visa interview. It has been slightly higher over the past 14 months. In the last few months it too has decreased. When I was preparing my I-129F the "historical processing time" was showing 140 days between NOA1 and NOA2. But it looks like that number is the highest it has been in the past 12 months.

So the direction I prefer is that the lesser time from NOA1 to NOA2 will ultimately result in overall less time between NOA1 and Interview. I sure you like this side of the possiblities also, so let's hope for a quick interview.

BTW, my Xiyun was raised in the northeast. Now resides in Xiamen. I hope you got your approval today or very soon. I'd like to be able to compare notes about Guangzhou.

Hi George,

Glad to hear your insight, yes I am sure hope my thinking was wrong as I am still waiting for my NOA2. Guangzhou is about 2 hours from my hometown so I know Guangzhou fairly well, we got our visa there years ago. I have never thought that I will be on this visa journey once again. Anyway, wish us best of luck for the rest of our journey!
