Hey all anxious October NOA1's:

How are you dealing with this emotional roller coaster?

One day I'm full of hope and the next I'm staring at these lists and timelines and wondering when, when, when!?!

Then someone with a later NOA1 gets an approval and while you are happy for them, you say to yourself Why Not Us?

It's discouraging to think our future lives are in the hands of a complete stranger who could make a monumental decision and all we can do is WAIT.

I keep kicking myself for not sending my paperwork in September when things were actually moving.

That's actually causing a few problems for me and my boyfriend. I had everything ready in September to send....except for my boyfriends forms. Apparently he has this extreme fear of filling out forms but refused to let me do them for him. So in the end I said screw it and fill out everything for him including the intent to marry document. Sent them to him where all he had to do was sign them. And even then it took him another week to sign them.

It wasn't until I blew up at him, asked him whether he looked at the links I sent him about the process then explained the entire process to him that he finally sent them off. He thought that sending the docs to the Service Center was the only step in the process. So whether we sent the forms now or in three months it wouldn't matter.

I love that he's so laid back and not controlling but he is too laid back for the visa process. :P

Haha! Mine, too! Yesterday we were talking on G-chat, and I was reminding him to be sure to get his birth certificate (he was born in Scotland, so I imagine it will be a process to get it in his hands in New Zealand) and I got snapped at for "pestering." Whatever! He's had months to do it, and he hasn't looked into it at ALL! Frustrating... Why can't I just get my NOA2 so I can stop being "that girl"?!?

I know! I hate being "the nag". It's so annoying. But we wouldn't have to be if they'd do what we told them to do...when we told them to do it. Instead they wait until the last minute to do it then wonder why we've completely lost our mind.

In my travels, I have noticed that most other countries are laid back and we americans are impatient. We are concerned with "time". We ask, "How much time will it take?", "I don't have enough time.", and "There is not enough hours in a day." We should learn from other people to slow down and enjoy life. We are in for a long wait, so stay calm and positive. Good Luck everyone.

Yeah, I know about the patience with other countries. I lived in Sicily for three years and I'm pretty sure that that is probably the most laid back country anywhere. People spent more time just hanging around drinking coffee than anything else. :P I loved it though.

I am so not a patient person though. I'm too much of a control freak so having no control over this makes me bonkers. :P

And, I believe that whether or not you are waiting "together" makes a huge difference.

It's hard enough to maintain a long distance relationship - visiting is great, but there is always another goodbye in an airport terminal to contend with. When you can't be together for months on end, it's hard to be "laid back".

I would love to slow down and enjoy life WITH my love, and if that makes me impatient, so be it.

In my experience,I just feel men in general worry less about everything. We women are worry warts, and I mean no offence,it is just how we are.

My fiance lost his job yest and I was feeling awful, for him and also fearing what would happen to our case ,we are in the NOA2 waiting stage.

All sorts of freaky thoughts cross my mind, only the worst kind,But he seems pretty relaxed thinking a co-sponsor would solve all our problems.

I told him it might be,but we still need to be a little worked up,a little sign of worrying is not bad really.

Men ,ha! what can you do!

I love him to death though,he is one of his kind

Is he the petitioner? If he's the beneficiary then him losing his job shouldn't be that bad since his income isn't considered in the application process.

And that is so true about them showing some sign of worry. My guy is like..."it's the government...it's expected". Ugh! You're supposed to be upset that you can't be with me sooner....helloooooo!! :P

Hey all anxious October NOA1's:

How are you dealing with this emotional roller coaster?

One day I'm full of hope and the next I'm staring at these lists and time lines and wondering when, when, when!?!

First off, I just want to say thank you to all of you who are still waiting for your NOA2s. You were very supportive and congratulatory for me when I finally got mine.

Second off, about the above post. I'm sorry if I'm taking this out of context, but, don't you think that I feel guilty enough about the fact that so many people ahead of me in the list got skipped over and I got my NOA2 before they did? I don't come to this site very much other than to read up and learn as much as I can about this process that I and everyone else here is dealing with, and to see how my fellow Octoberians are doing. I came back to this thread today hopeful that soo many of them had received their NOA2s and found this instead. It does dishearten me and makes me feel even guiltier to see it called out this way.

Again, I want to wish everyone here a speedy NOA2. You (we) all deserve it and have worked hard and earned it. Even if it's taking longer than expected, you deserve a pat on the back for all the courage and hard work you have put into this.

I married my British Husband strictly for financial purposes. My heart wrote a check and I cashed it. (L)

You don't have to feel guilty; you had to wait, too. Emotions are running high for everyone in this process, that's just the way it goes. Those of us who are still waiting for approval will try not to take anyone else's approvals personally as long as those who've been approved don't take our anxiousness and feeling a wee bit sorry for ourselves as a slight directed at them. Deal?

We're all in this together, here to support each other in whatever ways we can.

Bacon,

You are correct that the petitioner losing his job will not affect the NOA2 process, but it will affect the deceision during the interview at the embassy when he submits his I-134 form, Affidavit of Support.

Nicely said, Megger. No one is to feel guilty!

Now, another UK person just got their NOA2. Do all countries have their own adjudicators? Cos the last 2 out of 3 approvals have been UK. Maybe it's just the UK adjudicator working on his/her K1's and every one else's adjudicator working on other visas? I'm just speculating and obviously haven't a clue how they work things, but just trying to make everyone feel better. And I still ain't got mine, and I'm UK, so I'm probably talking horse s***, but maybe that is the case.
