Translation of receipts for 129f question 18

This has probably been asked before but I searched and couldnt find it. I will be submitting the I129f soon. For the proof of the visitation, does any receipts (hotel, atm, restaurant) need to be translated to english from russian in my case? I also has some boarding passes/tickets from travel from Mowcow to her town and the titles are in english but the responses are in Russian. Am I over analyzing this?

Probably yes. You need to estabish you were in the same country together, wherever that country may be. You have boarding passes from here (USA) to Moscow and passport stamps/visa to Russia and photos of you together. That is all you really need. You only need to establish you MET IN PERSON. Anything presented as evidence to USCIS must be in English or with an English translation attached. Alla does translations for clients for the consulates but has never done any receipts for this purpose. I think it would be overkill. Go with your US-Russia boarding passes, passport stamps and photos. I think the internal (domestic) filight boarding passes within Russia will be OK also as long as they can tell what they are, but probably not needed.

FWIW a friend of Alla's, Lena, is from Russia, arrived on a k-1 and is now a citizen, works at the VSC as an adjudicator and often other adjudicators run things by her that have not been translated, so if you are using VSC, go ahead and attach what you want, someone will show it to Lena.

What do you mean "responses" concerning boarding passes and tickets?

I did not translate the pizza delivery receipt in Alla's name sent to the apartment address that I had rented (with that evidence being in English). But I did include a short description just like the previous sentence, so the adjucator could be stepped through the evidence. I also did not translate the Ukraine currency exchange receipts but again did include a short description. What I did was scan all these documents in as an image and then inserted them into a blank Word document so I could include my description. With the copy of the entire petition I sent for her interview, I placed these into a baggie and stapled that onto a blank piece of paper and inserted it in front of the copies sheet, so she would have the originals for the interview.

I think what he means is that the original card stock for the boarding pass is printed in English and then the part printed onto the card stock at the airport (city, date, flight number, etc) is in Russian.

yuliaandray -- The "proof" is an area where many people WAY overdo it and often send in lots of things that prove nothing. As Gary_and_Alla says, all you need to show is that you were in her country (visa, exit/entry stamps from passport, and boarding passes are sufficient for this). And prove that the two of you actually met -- photos will do nicely here. As for the hotel receipt-- I'm not trying to pry into your personal business -- if it only has your name on it then it's ok proof of having been in Russia, if it also has her name on it then it can also serve as proof of having met. Personally, unless it has both names on it, I wouldn't bother submitting it.

There is no need to translate the boarding passes.

As for the ATM and restaurant receipts -- nice souvenirs, but totally irrelevant to what you're trying to prove. What you have above is plenty of proof that you were in the country. The emphasis then is on providing proof that you met -- do the atm receipts do that? no Do the restaurant receipts do that? no They might indicate that you're a very hearty eater.... or that you had a meal with someone else.... but does it prove who you had a meal with? no Just rely on your photos together as proof of having actually met.
