i think it's ok if you didn't receive an approval notice by email. we also didn't receive any from them, just the hard copy.

It's very common for people not to get email notification.

Yes it is very common, and I did not think I was going to get one either. But, I got lucky and got my approval via email. A lot of petitioners on VJ did not get an email approval and got a hardcopy. This is very normal so don't worry. Besides the email does not have all the information that you need. The hardcopy is more detailed.
