You will need your SSN number to actually work... Assuming you requested an SSN on the DS-230,,, it should arrive in a few days, ours arrived 9 days after she arrived in August.

Your visa with the entry stamp is a temp GC and also work authorized.

However, you will need to provide your SSN to your employer.

If you have a job prospect in near future, go apply for one at a local SSA office.

Some people don't get their SSN even if they checked 'yes' for the automatic assignment of a SSN upon the arrival to the US.

REALLY???? My husband can work with just his visa entry stamp??? We also have a CR1 visa. He has been here since Wednesday and was offered a job yesterday, we told them he couldn't work until he had his SSN - GRRRR. My fault I should have come here sooner! We can't even get an ID card without the SSN so I just ASSUMED we were dead in the water until that SSN came!! CRUD!
