Report of Marriage in USA

I'm currently in Cagayan de Oro for a 1 month vacation. My passport still has my maiden name and we haven't reported yet our marriage (in USA) through the Phil. consulate in WA, DC. I would like to renew my passport to reflect my married name. But before i do that, I do understand I have to report our marriage first. I'm wondering where I can report our marriage here? I really don't have any idea where and how to do that here in Philippines. Is it at DFA? City Hall? Is it advisable that I report the marriage here while I'm on vacation given the time frame I only have? Or should I just do it in USA? I also think it would be cheaper here in Philippines, if it's possible. Thanks!

I recall reading s similar post before and the person in question had to go back to the US to file the report of marriage first. DFA would not issue a passport in their married name without the marriage having been reported first at the consulate with jurisdiction.

If the US Embassy in Cebu or Manila is able to issue a permit to marry then can't they take care of this problem? Just curious.

Try to call NSO-Office of the Civil Registrar in your City and see what they are going to say. You should have reported your marriage here before you travelled back home. Good luck!

No, the USEM has nothing to do with reporting of marriage contracted outside Philippines where one or both parties is a Filipino Citizen. Filipinos usually would report it to the Consulate where it has jurisdiction of where the marriage took place then they would forward those paperwork in Manila to be properly registered and recorded with the Office of the Civil Registrar General in Manila.

Perhaps you could renew your passport in your maiden name and then report the marriage and have the passport amended once you get back to the US. That might be easier than having to make a personal appearance at the consultate to renew your passport.
