Hi Everyone,

I am also a May filer who just received an RFE dated 11/01/10. The attachment to the RFE is just the general suggestions such as birth certificate of any child(ren), financial records and residence. In my application, I submitted two years of tax returns (tax transcript for one year and a copy of the 1040 for the other), joint bank account statement and a car insurance policy. I am also a May filer who just received an RFE dated 11/01/10. The attachment to the RFE is just the general suggestions such as birth certificate of any child(ren), financial records and residence. In my application, I submitted two years of tax returns (tax transcript for one year and a copy of the 1040 for the other), joint bank account statement and a car insurance policy. However I redacted part of the SSN as well as account numbers and actual financial figures. Do you think I should resubmit these documents without redacting them? I got an RFE and in my situation I bought my home with my ex wife and do to the Housing crunch it is so far underwater it cannot be refinanced so it is still in her name too. I just explained that in the RFE. I also sent pictures of us together at various extended family activities of a 2 year time period.

The redacted information was probably at least a partial reason for your RFE. Why would you redact that data in a submission to the government? They already have your social security numbers and that is one way for them to verify the returns are legitimate. They also would more than likely want to see the dollar amounts on the returns. Maybe I trust them too much.

I would send evidence of Health Insurance and life insurance if you have that as well.

I don't want to call that a flat out lie, but it has to be pretty close to that. See, they are nearly finished with the July filers, 70 % approved, and not even four months have passed. Three August filers have already been approved; under three months! I think, as always, that USCIS makes up answer as it goes. They hover at nearly the same completion rate of around +/-70% for the months of May through July. Only April is totally complete, so that leaves a third of us as the first month of filers in limbo! Next time one of us calls, the answer will be 6-10 months.

I was only looking at CSC approvals. Trust me, it is absolutely heartbreaking to read that your case still is not approved as well. There have been questions from the remaining May filers what to do after we are out of processing time. Would appreciate if you could let us know what your actions were. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. The more I think about the case, I feel the lack of evidence relating to the residence issue was my problem. Unfortunately, now we have to send in anything and everything that we can think of since it seems we have one shot to get this right.

On a side note, I did contact USCIS regarding my RFE and the IO was at least nice although he couldn't really provide me answers to some of my questions but just general statements. At times I wish the immigration form instructions were more precise in what documents they actually want in order to satisfy the different type of categories they focus on. The USCIS Form I-9 (Employment Eligibilty Verification) instructions actually state provide one document from list A or one document from list B and another from list C.

Sorry just venting but if it weren't for the forums here I couldn't begin to imagine how much more frustrated everyone would be.
