Instructions: If more than 30 days have elapsed since your NOA1 date and you have not received your biometrics appointment letter, you can call the NCSC (their number is on your NOA1) and put in service request to the service center which you filed (CSC or VSC) to find out the status of the biometrics appointment letter. Make sure to verify the home address and mailing address (if any) with them on the phone. You can also request to speak to an immigration officer (you may have to ask at least twice to be transferred) to get your CR I-89 receipt number, (it is the receipt number of the biometrics letter) so that you can track your case online.

Well, a few more weeks and about a third of us CSC May filers will be past the 6 month processing time. Does anybody have plans on doing a service request or Infopass - to remind them we exist?

I don't think a service request would make much of a difference (I placed two of them for the biometrics letter), and it's a little far for me to make an Infopass appointment. Do we have any other options?

When the Government orders us to pay them taxes and fees, they warn us that if we don't pay by a certain date, we will incur penalties and we are threatened with liens and legal procedures.

When the Government plays with our lives, we have to pay fees quickly, or they will not begin the process. From then on, we are left to ourselves without any recourse. Tools like penalties, even threats are not available to us. We can't even inquire about the status of our applications during the process. We are told sternly to wait!

Honestly, besides putting in a call or shooting out an e-mail through the contact us page is about all we can do. With the pending elections, I am not so sure that trying to engage your local elected representative is of any help.

This is my second unhappy experience with USCIS after my I-129F/CR1 disaster a couple of years ago, of course made worse by the fact that so many applicants just seem to slide through the process without even a hick-up, even if their applications were filed later. Waiting by itself is a PITA, the fact that there is no rhyme or reason to how they approach our applications makes it so much more frustrating. This time, though, at least there are so many of us in the same boat that it makes it a bit more bearable; not less understandable, though. Figuring that only a small percentage of filers are posting here, the number of open cases must be much higher.

I hope someone comes up with a better idea how to move on.

Yes, suggestions would definitely be welcome. For a third of May people, this has turned into an unfair and frustrating process, seeing CSC approving a larger number of Junes and Julyers, and now even some Augusters.

I just called the 800 and the IO told me this case usually takes 6 to 9 mos to process.

Thanks for letting us know, very interesting! I see they're already adjusting their answers. Last week a friend was told CSC processing time was still 6 months (and online it still says 6 months, too).

I don't want to call that a flat out lie, but it has to be pretty close to that. See, they are nearly finished with the July filers, 70 % approved, and not even four months have passed. Three August filers have already been approved; under three months! I think, as always, that USCIS makes up answer as it goes. They hover at nearly the same completion rate of around +/-70% for the months of May through July. Only April is totally complete, so that leaves a third of us as the first month of filers in limbo! Next time one of us calls, the answer will be 6-10 months.

I got a letter at the end of August saying that the FBI could not process my fingerprints and had to have them re-done. Had them re-done on Sept 20th and still no approval. I will call the 1-800 # at the end of November if no approval has that will be 6 months. So Frustrating.

Funny to see that we signed up to VJ one day apart.

On a more serious note I feel very sad reading your post. But at least you were notified about a problem during your wait. I think none of us in the remaining group has received anything ( at least not yet ).

I sincerely hope that your journey will come to a successful end soon. I hope the same for all of us May filers.
