I was just wondering how my fellow vj members (filipinas specially) dealing with "flipping the clock" problem? Been here in the US for 2 weeks now but my clock is still messed up! I could fall asleep at night (9-10) but then i wakes up between 1:30-2:30am and i always have trouble going back to sleep. I dont (and never will i) take a nap (no matter how sleepy i am) during the day but my clock still screwed up! Drinks different kinds of green tea(s) and wake up "energy shots" but i still feel sleepy during the day...Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Good thing though that my husband understands this "crazy flipping clock thingy" and "keeps me awake" during the day...LOL!!!

It happens to me when I first got here. For my first 2 weeks, I just keep sleeping the whole day, and night. Then, another 2 weeks of being so awake during night. It took me 5 weeks to fully shift my body clock to normal day and night. Though, there's still time that I am so sleepy in the morning and so awake during night.

I wake up as husband wake up to prepare to go to work. He wanted to have breakfast with me. Then, when he's gone to work, I took a nap. Until such time, that I didn't take a nap anymore during the day.

Give your body some time to adjust. Now, your body will also need to adjust with the cold weather.

Cold Weather?

We don't see cold weather till late December or Janurary, and it has been close to 90 degrees in December.

I have always heard the weather suxs big times in Illinois, especially Chicago.

Well.... we're living in Midwest. I came from 25+ degrees celcius weather, and have to deal the 8 degrees celcius weather now.

Cold weather makes me so sleepy as well as hard to move around. So, I didn't on our heater so that I could adapt with the low temperature as much as I can . I might have it on when it drops to 4 degrees celcius.

Try Propofol, I hear it helps you sleep

Michael Jackson swears by it:

leave the energy shots alone until you get the clock adjusted. stay up without sleep for twenty four hours, then go to bed at the normal bed time. I guarantee you will sleep through the night. this will help you get started....

Thats what I do. Still takes over a week. Just have to deal with it . The price we pay to enjoy the nice things in life! :star:

or Both dance the "lambada " before going to bed.....heheehe

Gee, I bet they never thought of that one, or indoor body surfing either. :star:

I wanted to suggest a gentle, natural sleep inducer called Melatonin. Whenever I come back to the states from the RP, I use it and it helps get me back on schedule. Also, you seem to have an expectation of having a disturbed sleep schedule. Tell your brain that you will sleep, and never "I can't sleep." Program the super computer we all possess, but dont fully understand how to use it to itz greatest potential. Welcome to the US!

When I first got here, I had problem like that too and would even take antihistamine just to make me sleepy but of course I'm not suggesting that to you. LOL. You have to create a relaxing bedtime routine. Warm shower is a good example like others have already suggested and use your bedroom for sleeping and sex only. No TV and Radio inside the bedroom. Read a book and drink warm milk its effective .Agree that spending time in sunlight helps to reset your body's sleep and wake cycles too.

Hey the weather isn't that bad here, besides we have a saying: "If you don't liek the weather just wait 5 minutes {it'll change}"...

FWIW, the wife & I are looking forward to my having to "assist" her with the adjustment

Not hard to find, Phil. Any store that sells a good selection of vitamins and supplements should have melatonin cheap. I took 2 tablets last nite while still trying to reset my internal clock from Philippine time, and I had a great sleep and feel mostly back in tune with pacific time now. Good luck.
