I was just wondering if we need to send in evidence (bank accounts, etc) dating back since we got married, or just since we sent for our ROC, or what. I figure I'll send in all tax transcripts since we got married. I just didn't know if I needed to keep the old 'evidence' or not. I didn't see it specified in the Guides.

Thanks!

Most of the evidence we sent in was for the most recent year showing we were still living together.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

While the instructions are not very clear about what evidence to submit, they do refer you to the booklet "A Guide to Naturalization" and at the back of the Guide there is a checklist of the different documents that are required. Here is a link to the Guide: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...000b92ca60aRCRD

Read over the guide and you will find all of the answers you need. Basically, since you are filing for citizenship based upon 3 years permanent residency while married to the same US citizen who sponsored your immigration, you need the IRS transcripts for the last 3 years income tax returns, a copy of your US spouse's proof of citizenship, a copy of your marriage license, a copy of documents ending any previous marriages for either of you, and a copy of your 10 year green card (front and back). There are other documents related to criminal acts, selective service, etc. but those are the main ones. If you don't use the IRS transcripts then there are other additional relationship documents that they suggest you submit. Read the guide check list and pay attention to the 'and' and 'or' at the end of each item.

Be prepared to bring the originals of what you submit to the interview along with additional evidence to show you and your US spouse are still married and living together - it probably won't be needed but it is good to have.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

For marriage, instructions clearly state, the last three years for IRS tax returns. Preferably joint returns, but married filling separately with a common IRS address for both of you should suffice as well. We just brought in our latest jointly owned goodies like vehicles and a house, certainly can't bring in proof who legally owns the toaster, latest joint insurance, bank accounts, and utility bills all showing joint coverage and ownership. No problems for us. Also anything legal like a drivers' license showing we are living in the same home, property tax bills, loans. Must have both names on it with a common address. Stuff like that.

A jointly made baby is very good evidence.

NickD,

Yeah, I get the tax things - all years we've been married. When you say "our latest jointly owned goodies", "latest joint insurance, bank accounts, and utility bills", do you mean just the time after sending the I-751, or should I go back to the beginning with all of that? That was my real question, which I wasn't very clear about...(it's one of those days) I mean, I guess it wouldn't hurt to send our mortgage information in again, but what about bills and statements and stuff?

Do I just need to start where I left off with the ROC?

Sigh... I would LOVE to have a jointly made baby as evidence.... :(

Hi Venusfire,

If I were you, I'd send in everything dating back since the marriage, if you still have all that info (that's what I did). You never know how much info they want, and/or if they misplace files. So it's better to be prepared with too much than with too little paperwork, in my opinion. Better safe than sorry. Besides, they want to see if you're still married and living with that same spouse over the 3 years as required, which they can see with all that old and new evidence over the years.

Lol...Only when one is done with citizenship that they can put aside and/or throw out the evidence....

Hope this helps. Good luck with your journey too.
