Passport name change during a pending AOS?

Hi everyone,

I have sent out the I-485, AP and EAD application a couple of days ago. As I wait for my process to begin...

Can I go ahead and update my married name in the passport?

I am wondering if that will have any affect as my G-325a etc. all had my passport number though I did all my application under my married name.

Any help is appreciated!!

Can anyone comment on my question - if I can go ahead and update my passport while I wait for AOS? I am worried as the passport number will change - PLEASEEEEEEEEE................ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I don't know the answer to your question. It might be best to call USCIS and see what they say. I changed my name after filing for the I129F for my husband and all I had to do was call USCIS and notify them of the name change. You may also need to send in a copy of your new passport.

Oh bless you!! thanks for the reply :) ... I have a follow up question - how and which no. do you call? I have tried with the number I obtained on their website, I just get a bunch of automatic messages and have never spoken to any 'human' there!
