Hi all,

Hope someone can explain this to me a little clearer because I'm getting too stressed trying to figure it out on my own. My fiance will go to the embassy in London for his interview. He received his letter from them which gave him the website for the forms he has to fill out. I have two questions.

1. On the DS-230 form they say to only fill out part 1. Is this accurate? What about part 2? Does he print that out and take it to the interview with him or do they provide it at the interview? We are SO confused about this.

2. On the DS-156k it says to attach birth certificate, police certificates, proof of engagement, proof of support etc... to the form before you send it back. I've read on the checklist and here on the forum that you aren't supposed to send the certificates/proof/etc... with the forms but that you take those to the interview on your person. Also, the checklist mentions something about the passport, does he make copies of his passport pages or just take his passport to the interview? Once again SO CONFUSED!!!

My fiance doesn't have children, does that mean he should still print out duplicates of the forms? We figured he would anyway that way he has backup copies. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated!!

HEY I HOPE THIS HELPS OUT ;) THE FORM DS-230 YOU NEED TO SEND ONLY THE FIRST PART OF IT (PAGES 1 AND 2). ONCE YOU HAVE FILLED IT OUT YOU PRINT IT AND SIGN IT ON PAGE 2 AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

PART II (PAGES 3 AND 4) YOU KEEP THEM JUST IN CASE THEY ASK FOR IT AT THE EMBASSY BUT DO NOT SIGN THEM (PAGE 4)

FORM DS-156K YOU WILL NEED IT FOR THE INTERVIEW AS WELL AS FORM DS-156.

THE LIST OF DOCUMENTS MENTIONED ON THE FORM DS-156K, SUCH AS BIRTH CERTIFICATE, POLICE CERTIFICATE, PROOF OF AN ONGOING RELATIONSHIP, ETC., ETC. YOU WILL NEED WHEN HE GETS TO THE STATES AND YOU HAVE TO APPLY FOR THE ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS PLUS THERE IS A LIST OF DOCUMENTS YOU NEED TO PRESENT ON THE DAY OF THE INTERVIEW AT THE EMBASSY, BUT YOU WILL FIND OUT ABOUT THOSE DOCUMENTS ON YOUR PACKAGE 3 AND PACKAGE 4. IN MY CASE THEY ARE BIRTH CERTIFICATE, PASSPORT, PHOTOGRAPHS, POLICE CERTIFICATE, IMMIGRATION RECORDS, ETC.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • ONE COPY FOR THE DS-230 PER APPLICANT
  • TWO COPIES OF THE FORM DS-156 PER APPLICANT
  • ONE COPY OF THE FORM DS-156K PER APPLICANT

DONT FORGET NOT TO SIGN FORMS DS-156 OR DS-156 K. HE WOULD SIGN THOSE AT THE EMBASSY ON THE DAY OF HIS INTERVIEW.

I HOPE THIS INFO WAS HELPFUL BUT JUST IN CASE I SUGGEST YOU CHECK THE EMBASSY´S WEBPAGE FOR LONDON. HERE IS THE LINK FOR VISAS THERE. http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/index.html GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING.

We were given: Two hands to hold. Two legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.

Thanks for the help, Fey. This explains things a bit better! I'm a little confused as to what "package 3" is. He hasn't gotten a package from anyone, just a letter from the embassy giving him the websites for info on the medical and where to download the forms. Is that considered "package 3"? I'm still a bit confused on what to send back to London. I know he needs to send back all the DS forms plus the checklist before they schedule his interview. The embassy's website says not to send any documents to the embassy other than the actual forms. BUT one of the DS forms states that you need to attach some documents to that form. So I'm in a terrible state of confusion. Does he NOT send that DS form back with the other four forms? *sigh* I'm so tired of this....
