You don't get it. By exporting illegal aliens you will do little to affect the crime rate.

A certain percentage of people in the US, are below the poverty level. This is a rate, relative to the entire population. By decreasing the overall population, especially by removing people primarily below poverty level other people will move down to fill in that place. The rate of poverty as a part of the overall population probably wont change. But who belongs to that group will.

In time you will see little difference in crime rates and then you will be advocating for getting rid of <insert socio-economic group here> to reduce the crime rate.

Maybe we can turn Australia back into a penal colony and make not paying your debts a crime again.

What do you mean little effect? A nation must do everything they can to reduce the crime rate and protect their citizens. Eliminating illegal aliens is a no brainer. Australia was just ranked 2nd in the world regarding the HDI, yet is one of the strictest countries regarding illegal aliens. They have absolutely no tolerance of it. Now if an illegal alien was caught committing a crime, they would be banned from returning period. No ifs and or buts about it.

How does anyone fail to comprehend that a person who is here illegal should be on their best behavior? Strange that us Legal immigrants seem to grasp this but illegal aliens from certain poor countries seem to not get it. Furthermore, find me one other developed country in the world which will excuse the actions of illegal aliens with a, "well citizens do it to". That is just not acceptable. Why should any American be a victim of crime, at the hands of an illegal alien, who should never have been there in the first place?

I know what it is though, it's the typical PC bullshit that plagues this country. Those who condone illegal aliens clearly fail to accept that not everyone acts or behaves equally. That crime is more prevalent in certain communities and cultures than others. As such, you falsely assume someone from a 3rd world country, thinks and behaves the same as someone from a 1st world. Simply not true.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

This is a warning to stop the insults and the name calling. Continuation of the juvenile behaviour exhibited by some of the members here will lead to this thread being closed.

Baiting again, I see?

If society is more dangerous than it was in decades past then we'd surely be looking at massive increases in the national crime rate across the board.

Has this happened I wonder....

How many columbines happened back then? Just the other day I saw a video where a teenager walked onto a Chicago bus and started firing. Or was this common too? I am sure you will have me believe it's common in London too, since it's so similar and all to the US. With the entire country's 14 annual deaths by means of firearm. Also must be why every Britt and his dog is migrating to Aus.

How about the word of veteran teachers? They're anecdotal idiots too right.

BY - just because there are horrible crimes in the modern day, doesn't mean that there weren't also horrible crimes back in the 50s - there absolutely were.

The way you carry on anyone would think that the concept of rape and mass murder were spontaneously invented in the year 1960.

The rest of your post is your usual snatching at words and jumping around the room lobbing random pieces of ####### hoping that some of it might stick.

I hope you and Empress of Groovy pay attention to this: What does this graph tell you? Has the population tripled to justify the tripling in homicide?

totalcounts.png

Who's talking out of their azz now? Once again I have been able to reference my point, yet you have failed to do so for that of your own.

PS The homicide offences in England & Wales also have a similar pattern. Only difference with them when compared to the US is there is no drop period.

Incidentally if you're going to cite the FBI - perhaps you have an explanation for the hole in the middle here ;)

Any guesses?

Ever heard of the Capone years? Anyway, any stats prior to the 40's are questionable, since there is no way of verifying them.

More importantly, if you recall, I did clearly state during the 40's and 50's for the US. Considering people lived during that era and could actually vouch for it. ;)

I think you'll find that a big part of the rate prior to the 30's had to do with the Depression (Capone came about during that period).

The gap in the middle is directly attributable to WW2 and its aftermath. Crime declined because there were fewer people and it was relatively easy to get a job during those years.

Yes, the population has doubled since 1950, and so did homicide.

Population: 152 million in 1950, 300+ million now.

Homicide: 7,000-8,000 in 1950, 16,000-17,000 now (according to your chart)
