My husband is scheduled for his naturalization interview on Monday 10/5

It says it is suggested to bring 2 additional passport photos but you are not required. My husband would have to go out and get them done again as we don't have any additional.

For all those who had there interviews did you find that they were necessary and did the officer interviewing ask for them?.

Thank you for your help.

I didn't take any with me and they never asked for any. However, if your husband is thinking of getting a passport pretty quickly it wouldn't do any harm to get them done now and take them with you - just in case.

Good luck on the upcoming interview!!

I was not asked for the additional pics at the interview but I would strongly advise on getting them anyhow, just in case they are misplaced from his file. Better be safe than sorry. He can always use them for the passport application afterwards. There's a website that I found very helpful, check it out:

this is optional....

you can get a new set done quickly and that way if for some reason the officer reviewing your case wants the new set it will not delay your case.

We did find this at the last minute as well and decided to get a new set and took it with us, was not needed so we used them for the passport application.

goodluck on your interview....

cheers

I had extras with me but they were not required. I suspect that if the submitted photograph was not sufficient you would then have another available that they could use and it wouldn't delay the process. You sign the side of the photographs you submitted and one of them is then physically attached to your citizenship certificate. I used the extra ones I brought for my passport application so that is something you might want to consider doing as well.

The rule is, if you don't bring them they will want them and if you do, they won't want them. Reason it's recommended, the USCIS loses stuff.

Since I got Corel Photo free when I purchased a scanner, have a digital camera, a white wall, a 60 watt light bulb for backlighting, and a computer, took my own shots of my wife. Ha, a bunch of shots. All met DOS specifications, sized six photos on a 4 by 6 and paid Walgreens 19 cents, for a print out on high quality photo paper. Actually 38 cents for a dozen of them. You want photos, we got photos, but they didn't lose the ones we sent in. But nice to have, now they want you to put your name in ink and A# on the front along the left border. If you slip, nice to have another one or two along. Instructions said to put that on the rear of the photo with a light pencil, but wife's IO said different and got nasty about that.

It's already been pointed out that IO's don't read their own instructions. Maybe it's because they cannot read, I don't know.

During my interview the officer did take my new set of photos, he said the old ones could have been rejected because it showed my shoulders and that my face wasn't zoomed-in enough.. funny thing is, when I went to apply for the passport the agent told me the exact opposite, he said the rejected passport photos by uscis looked perfect and that the picture on my N400 was too zoomed-in/washed out (whatever that means)... anyway I am glad I went the extra mile to get new photos.
