Selective service question

On the form N400 for naturalization i am stuck on page 9, part 10 section G question 33?

Please advice?

My first advice is to ask a better question.

This is about registering for the US military draft which is required for all males between 18 & 26.

You answer the question honestly and if needed supply the appropriate statement.

Sorry, i was in a rush i didn't asked my question i just made a statement. Why question was trying to find out if i just check yes or no for the following question:

"Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?"

I checked "no" because i came here on a k-1 visa and i did register with the SSS

I don't understand. Did you get your green card before your 26th birthday? If yes, then your answer to that question should have been "yes" (green card LPR status is NOT the same as a being a lawful NONimmigrant). If no, then you shouldn't have registered for Selective Service. I'm assuming you're male, of course.

Then you should answer the question "Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?" by checking "yes".

You are a male, and you lived in the United states at age 23 with LPR status.

That question on the N-400 is pretty nearly equivalent to asking, "Are you someone who should have registered with Selective Service?". But they don't use those words, because not everyone knows the rules for SS registration. Instead, they spell it out in detail in the question.

"G. Selective Service Registration.

33. Are you a male who lived in the United States at any time between your 18th and 26th birthdays

in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant?

If you answered "NO," go on to question 34.

If you answered "YES," provide the information below.

If you answered "YES," but you did not register with the Selective Service System and are still under 26 years of age, you

must register before you apply for naturalization, so that you can complete the information below:

Date Registered (mm/dd/yyyy) Selective Service Number"

Several question on the N-400 can twist your brain, this was not one of them. The tools I needed for this was my wife and her birth certificate.

A lawful non-immigrant would be someone here on a tourist or work visa, but you got to be a lawful permanent resident before you can even apply for USC. So no exceptions, and we already checked:

"I have been a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States for at least three years, and I

have been married to and living with the same U.S. citizen for the last three years, and my

spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last three years."

That other check box threw me for a loop, thought adding "in any status except as a lawful nonimmigrant" was redundant if not stupid.

Next step was in trying to determine if my wife was a male or a female, so asked her to undress, was under the very strong opinion she was a female, but could have received the assistance of a medical doctor to prove that. With that out of the way, was no reason to calculate her age from her birth certificate. So we answered no to that question. Didn't really skip to question 34 as felt obligated to put in a N/A for the date registered and the SSN in those boxes.

But if she was a male, would have calculated her age from her birth certificate, that could have happened if I was a female. If he fell within that age group and didn't register, would have had to do that before finishing the application.

But we already went through this when my wife became a conditional LPR, in big fat letters with her card, it said she must register with selective service if she was a male between the ages of 18 and 26. Was at that time I determined she was a female, but what the heck, 33 months and a couple of days went by, so requested to see her naked again. That caused a minor interruption in filling out the N-400, but we won't go into that.
