Hello

I was wondering if anyone can help me, i need to get some documentation notorized for my police check from when i lived in the Cayman Islands and i wanted to know if anyone knew of a good and cheap lawyer / solicitor?

Also, am i right in thinking that in England you have to use a lawyer? Everywhere i look they want over £100 - crazy!

Is there also anyone out there who has had to get a police check from the Cayman Islands? I have a few questions about this and would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this.

Thanks very much

Lesley

Not all solicitors in the UK are notaries, but nearly all of the approximately 1000 notaries in the UK are solicitors, according to the Notaries Society. Being a territory of the UK, the concept of a notary in the Cayman Islands is similar to that in the UK, in that a notary can verify the authenticity of a document. I don't see where you have much choice other than to see a Notary and pay whatever you need to pay. The Notaries Society will help you find one:

Do you have Justices of the Peace in the UK?

We have those in New Zealand and they can verify an identity and stamp a form. That's what we have always used for various American forms that require notarization. They charge nothing or maybe $5.
