The NSO copy of my birth certificate sucks also. I asked them if it can be any clearer, they gave me a list of what to do so next time I request for it, it will be better. Unfortunately, the process will be about 2 weeks, more or less. Anyways, on my way to NSO, I've met a liaison officer working for a travel agency and she suggested me to get a copy of "Certificate of Live Birth" in our municipality as a back up for my NSO birth certificate which is very difficult to read. I'm thinking of doing it.

Right. I have a copy of local registry or whatever they call it, but it has a note stating "Not Valid For Travel Abroad". Mom requested it way back 1995 and looks oldy na. And now I have to call my aunt to get me a new copy for it and hopefully no stamp for NV for Travel Purpose. If I can go back to where I was born to get it personally. Oh well, its better to have back up just in case.

I also have an old copy from the local civil registrar, I showed it to the Liaison Officer I met, she said it's not that. According to her the title of the document is something like "Certificate of Live Birth". I have no idea what it is still but I'll go to the one-stop shop of our municipality this Monday (if possible) to ask about it. Oh yes, better to have back up, just in case...

There is no CEMAR or CENMAR. Certificate of marriage is what they call CENOMAR if u are married its CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE....

Guys and girls,

You can request the following certifications and/or copies of civil documents from NSO:

1. Birth Certificate

2. Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR, also called the Singleness Certificate)

3. Marriage Certificate (this is what is has always been called...not CEMAR or CENMAR...no such terms exist)

4. Adoption

5. Legitimization

6. Dissolution of Marriage

7. Death

8. Other Certifications (such as Certification of No Live Birth --- for the ladies, this means there is no record of you giving birth to any child)

The CENOMAR is usually requested from applicants who have never been married. People who have been married before do not need a CENOMAR...if you were previously married, even if your marriage is annulled or terminated through divorce, the CENOMAR will show that you have a record of having been married before...having a marriage terminated doesn't mean you are "single" anymore on paper.

To show it has been terminated, you'd need to show your annotated NSO marriage certificate (which is basically your previous marriage certificate with a note typed on the left hand margin, with a brief summary of the decision of the annulment or divorce), your certificate of finality and the decision of the judge. An annotated NSO Marriage Certificate is the outcome of filing for a Dissolution of Marriage (#6).

Hope this helps.

loveaboo,

It's embarassing to show a crappy birth certificate to people in the US when you have to submit one to get your marriage liscence. haha, I wonder if they would asked something about it if I showed them those unclear, crappy copy of birth certificate. And it's funny when you notice the bottom portion of the paper says " BEST POSSIBLE IMAGE".

Ang churvavels te'...

Hahaha! I had to check my NSO-BC to check if there's really a "BEST POSSIBLE IMAGE" note at the bottom. You're right! I can't believe that's the best already. Makes me wonder how the crappy copy for them looks like.

Anyways, :ot2:

To those who would like to acquire Cenomar, Please be informed that it will take 2 weeks before you can have the certificate.

To my surprise, I was like, uh? 2 weeks?... I kinda have to have it on my interview.

I just hope that the consul wouldn't be asking that from me.

I got mine after 3 weeks at the NSO in QC.

The document signed in front of the mayor is your Marriage Contract/Marriage Certificate/Certificate of Marriage. CEMAR/CENOMAR is a document issued by the NSO to interested parties certifying the existence or non-existence of a record of marriage.

I know they all sound the same... :star:

USEM DOES ask some married peeps for the "Advisory of Marriages". There's no official NSO documents called CEMAR or CENMAR. ONLY CENOMAR

Those words were "coined" on the Asawa forum some years ago by me and a few others. I was inquiring if there was forms called that for married people and the terms "took off over the years

If you go to NSO ask for a "Advisory of Marriages!"

Google your heart out and you any NSO or government sites that mention CEMAR or CENMAR.

I already requested a CENOMAR yesterday together with my BC ad MC, I will come back today to pick the BC and MC up.

Would it make any difference if I go to main NSO to see if it is much quicker there?

the easiest way (but a little bit more money) to get a CENMAR would have been online.

anyway, you don't need a CENOMAR because you are already married. you need to get a cert of marriage now.

CENOMAR is certificate of NON marriage so you won't get it now even if you request because your records will show your recent marriage.

No one knows if the CO would ask for it or not. In my case, both the Pre-screener and the CO asked for it. Better have it on hand 'coz they wont say "nevermind" if you got nothing to show for whatever reason, it seems like 'they asked for it, then provide it' kind of thing.

My husband requested the "Advisory of Marriages" form from NSO few weeks before his interview. The pre-screener and the CO didn't ask for it.

I do recommend that you obtain it just in case you get strict pre-screener and CO. Goodluck.

I did asked what request form should I fill out to request a Certificate of Marriage when I was at the NSO.

The counter gave me the Green form.. when I read what is written there, it is meant to request for a CENOMAR.

I told the lady, I am married now so I don't need CENOMAR. She said, its really the form that they use.

Now,I came up with a theory that if whether you said Cenomar, or Certifcate of marriage, NSO peeps still call it as Cenomar. Because ones they dig on their record and you are not yet married, They will issue you a "Certificate of No marriage", and if they dig on their records and you are already married, they will issue you a "Advisory of Marriage" a.k.a "Certificate of Marriage".
