i-130 affidavit of bona fide marriage

Hi! I just married my husband last Sept 25 and we don't have enough proof of a bona fide marriage except a joint account and the affiavit from 3rd parties. How many affidavits do I need to submit? Can anyone provide a sample afidavit? thanks!!

Hi Tinker!

My husband and I will also be providing some affidavit. I don't have an example, but I can tell you what I'll be doing.

I will be asking (i.e. telling ) his friends to write down on a piece of paper that they know us. Where and when do they know us from. (For example, friend A will say, I've know S since I was 12! And I've met his wife, kitty 3 years ago. I attended their wedding and have been going over to their house on a regular basis. They are a loving couple and I can certify that they are a couple). I will also be asking his mother, his best man and other people for the same thing.

The reason why I'm certain that this is a good thing is that some time ago, my husband was charged with assault. He did hit first, but the other person was acting in a very dangerous manner and was waving a gun. My husband felt that our safety was threatened and acted on it. Now, the major reason his case was dismissed was thanks to the affidavits of a couple of workers that were working on our house. So, yes, I believe that affidavits are good. I wouldn't go over board and ask the whole neighborhood, but ask key people. Also, read them. Some people may have their facts wrong and you don't want to find out at the last moment (for example, a neighbor might be mistaken and think you've been married for 3 years, when, in reality, it's been 5 years)

2) My Best Friend

3) Husband's Best Friend & Friend of mine

4) Friend of the couple

5) Friend of the couple

For my greencard, I always thought more was better!!
