Hi all, I am applying IR-1 for my wife and we are preparing for the upcoming interview.

The Medical Exam requires that we bring written proof of the exact date the beneficiary was immunized for the vaccines required (including Varicella). Where would I get such information?

Do we have to redo all vaccinations? There seems to be a ton of them.

It also asks for medical records, which we don't have either. Did you bring your medical records to your medical exam?

Is there anything else we should be aware of before going to the medical exam? (I know we need to bring passport, letter, photos, bank drafts and immunization proofs)

If you don't have record of your vaccinations - have a titer test done. It will test all immunities and levels of those immunities and that is sufficient.

While the list is gigantic, it should be per age group and ONLY if you need an update.

I did my medical at a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. Not a word English spoken there, except for the MD himself.

I brought nothing, told him that I vaguely remember having received vaccinations when I was a child and that I'm anti-vaccinations in general. I also told him that I pay cash and that time was money, my money.

He checked my blood for antibodies which determined what vaccinations I already had, and injected me only with those vaccines that were absolutely required by the Immigration machine. Due to my age, it was at the MD's discretion to determine that I wouldn't need them all.

Even in its most simple form, the whole thing is no fun, and it took me three visits to get signed off.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Are you sure she doesn't have any shot records?

Ask her if she has a 'yellow book' - an international record of shots , done in China.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

This is for Canada, not China.

Yup, and his wife immigrated from China to Canada.. There's a SLIGHT chance she'll have the yellow book..
