I could wait till my tomorrow morn and call to find out but Im being impatient. I have my flight booked finally for the 23rd :D but am a little confused about my POE

Please check-in at the Qantas Airways ticket counter.

Sun, Jul 23

6:55PM to

6:30PM

Sydney, Australia (SYD) to

Los Angeles, CA (LAX)

16hrs 35mins - 1 Stop in Honolulu, HI

It doesnt mention any time it remains in Honolulu and is the same aircraft all the way to LAX. Im presuming my POE will be LAX because of this but not 100%. Anyone that can clear this up for this seldom traveller would be appreciated.

If they are carrying traffic from Sydney to Honolulu, then you will deplane in Hono and go thru immigration and customs.

Bout time you got here.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

hmmmm I am wrapped if its Honolulu as that hopefully will be a lot better than LAX. What confused me a little is.....wouldnt my luggage stay onboard if its the same flight/aircraft? That being the case how would I do customs  Can ya tell this is only my second time flying lol

Also hubby booked the flight from the US online so I dont even know how much time I will have to do immigration if its Honolulu hahahaha dang  I only know I have over 4 hours in LAX before my connecting flight to Orlando.

You will have to claim your luggage prior to customs in Honolulu. There will be a place right after customs to re-check your luggage for the remainder of your flight.

I'm sure that the airline is aware that everyone booked on the flight continuing on to LAX has to clear customs and immigration. Unless you get an unusually long delay at immigration, the time has already been factored into their schedule.

save yourself a little time by ensuring that you fill out your customs forms during the flight to honolulu. all the flights arriving in the usa pass these out enroute, but if you are sleeping not all flight attendants will wake you to give you one. don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to get thru customs and immigration and make your flight to lax. congrats! best wishes! thx for all your posts here, my wife and i learned so much from them. hopefully soon to be your fl neighbors, bernard & sherwin

HAHAHAHA sorry Mo...didnt mean to. I am so brain drained right now.

I have read all of that a million times and cant remember it answering my question. You telling me I should go back and read it all hu lol

Sorry hon, I know you're fried right now. Here's the key part:

As you leave Immigration, you will need to collect your luggage and clear Customs. There is no duty for your used, personal belongings. Get waved through, welcomed to America and if you are connecting to another flight, look for a baggage belt and airport/airline personnel right outside of Customs. You put your luggage on the belt here and it will be taken to your next flight. You can then run or amble to your connection. If this is your final destination, have a great day, and thanks for entering America.

When you check in at Sydney, they will tag your luggage through to your final airport. If you know the airport code in Florida, keep an eye on your luggage tags when you're checking in---you will see all the airports it will pass through listed in reverse order. Make sure your FL airport is the last 3 letter code (they're big letters).

When you land in HI, you'll go through Immigration and collect your bags off a belt outside. You then wheel through Customs and bat your eyes. Don't mention the Vegemite. <g>

After being welcomed in, you wheel your little cart past the officers and there should be a big luggage belt and a small desk.. maybe some guys to help you heave your luggage back onto the belt. If you have any questions at that time, there should be a rep from your airline hovering around. If you're close in time for your connecting flight, ask someone to make sure your bags make it with you. Then run.

In LA, you'll just have time to wander around. LAX is pretty dull, but maybe you'll see a celebrity. Or a look alike. If you want some exercise (eww, I mean 'stretch your legs'), you can roam around between terminals. Just save plenty of time to get back into the terminal through security. And note that in LA they can charge $5 for a $2 Starbucks. And they do---they always know my weakness!

You should be in (have arrived at) a domestic terminal by now. IMO, the international terminal is more interesting if you want to walk over there. I think you can even shuttle bus around to it---LAX is set up in a big ring shape. You'll also depart from a domestic terminal.

Then you're in for another 4 hour flight, right? Marathon! See if you can find any No Jet Lag pills (made in New Zealand)---they really help. Also melatonin helps me get my body clock right on those long flights.

What's that? You liked the short answer better? Gots to be careful what you ask for!

xxxxx Safe travel my sweetie!
