Hello everyone, for those of you who are familiar with our case, Alfredo and I sent his AOS paperwork away in march, since then we have since received his EAD and AP in late July, his paperwork was then transferred to CSC, and has recently been transferred to our local office Sept. 1st, since then we have not received any info., no appt. letter, no nothing.... we were hoping that we wernt going to have an interview since it was mailed to CSC, but now it was mailed back to our local office, and everyone else from MARCH has either gotten their greencard, or has their greencard processing (b/c they had their interview), WE ARE THE ONLY CASE FROM MARCH THAT HASNT BEEN COMPLETELY DONE WITH ON VISA JOURNEY!! I wanted to call our local office and ask them what was up, if they sent a letter any maybe we just didnt get it or what, because it is exactly a month since they have had the paperwork. How fricken long does it take to send out an interview paper???? Alfredo has a clean slate, never been here illegally, never had problems with the cops in mexico, or in the U.S, i really dont know why they are taking so long. It says on USCIS website that for our local office (for I-485, that it can take months for them to process, but that is for the whole process right?? Not for the actual processing of the interview preparation and paperwork??? or am i wrong??) Pretty much, my question is, should i call USCIS, and has anybody else had this problem, maybe even with the Philly office?? I am getting nervous, b/c they have been dragging their feet with our case since we sent the paperwork in, in MARCH!!!

Your interview time will depend upon how backed up your local office is. If you are that worried, make an infopass to find out if a letter was sent. It is hard to find a phone number for a local USCIS office.

Six months wait is not unusual. Several members from our group last year waited a year to get their green cards with no rfes.

What typically does an info pass appt consist of? How do i make it? is it done by phone? And what i dont understand is WHY the majority of people get their greencards so fast, like for example, you got yours in around 5 months, it will be 7 months this month, not that you can answer my WHY question, but it is so frusterating.

Why? The wait time varies because everybody is from a different local office. Some (like yours) are more backed up than others, so the wait time will be greater. Even people who get approved at CSC don't get approved in the order they filed.

Bottom line... there is no rhyme or reason as to how CIS approved them.
