Address

My foreign fiancée’s house does not have a mailing address. However, one of her relatives has a box that the post office can deliver to.

On the I-129F it requires the fiancée’s address (Number and Street) in two places: Part B Line 2, and Part B Line 15. Why are there two different places for address? Should I use her relative’s postal box address in one or both places? I would think I need to use the postal box somewhere since that’s the only place she could receive mail from the embassy, but I am wondering is the form asking for a physical address since it has “Number and Street”.

On G-325 form it asks for the applicant’s address for the past five years. In this case, what should my fiancée put as the current address?

I want to make sure she gets the mail and that there is no discrepancy of information if she is required to use a house address, even though mail is not delivered at her house.

Preparer’s info

My fiancée does not read English, though she speaks it. One of her relatives will assist her in filing out the G325 form and writing the letter of intent to send to me here in the U.S. Would this require the relative to acknowledge (sign) that he helped her fill out forms and write the letter? This is not a translation from their language to English since she does speak English.

The answer in Part B, question 2 should be the physical residence. It is ok to put a mailing address in Part b question 15.

In the G-325A put the physical address as it asks for the residence.

If she canno't read the letter and someone else helps her, that person should sign (but doesn't have to unless the letter is a sworn declaration or affidavit). I would do it in a language she can read and have it translated (for authenticity's sake). But, if she does write the letter in English, it should say something like, "the foregoing was read to me...." before she signs.

Thanks brlukath.

Regarding the two different address spots in I-129F, what is the rationale for providing the residence address in question 2 and the box address (mailing address) for question 15? There is nothing in the instructions that mentions how to fill out the address questions and calling the USCIS is pretty much no help. I just want to make sure this doesn't get returned to me and they understand why the addresses are different if it should go that way.

In my opinion your fiancee should never see or touch one of these forms.

YOU should fill them out, in entirety with ALL information she gives you...in English. Send the G-325a UNSIGNED with a letter attached that you are exercising the option of having your fiancee sign the form at the interview. If necessary look for and find the USCIS memo posted on this site which clealry states the foreign fiancee has this option. Refer to the thread about K-1 informatiion pinned at the top of the page.Anyone can fill out these forms, they can be corrected, white out used, etc. but the final form submitted must be accurate. The G-325a does not need to be signed bu ANYONE. The I-129f is only signed by you.

Print the fiancee letter of intent as it is here in the VJ guides. Add your fiancee name, etc as needed and have her sign it and return it. THIS should be original signature, she does not need to do anything buy say her name.

DO NOT turn over any part of this process to someone that does not understand it or cannot read the instructions under any circumstances.

You want to have the consulate have a reliable mailing address for the packet three that they will send. The USCIS wants to know her residence address, NOT her mailing address. USCIS isn't going to send her any mail and a PO Box is useless for the background check portion of this procedure. Where you list her PO box (or whatever that is) print in small letters "mailing address" For the G-325a use only her residence address.

Gary and Alla,

Isn't there a point in the K1 process where the foreign fiancee is mailed something? That's why I am concerned about the mailing address and residence address. If the foreign fiancee is supposed to receive something at some point, I want her to be able to receive it (since mail does not deliver to her residence address) and I wouldn't want anything to be rejected because of some perceived discrepancy with the addresses.

I agree with Gary. I completed all the forms and sent them over for signature and mailing/delivery as needed. Better to have one person keep track of it all and educate themselves as needed about the forms.

Anh map,

When you say you "sent them over for signature and mailing/delivery as needed", what do you mean? Are you saying you completed the forms and then sent (mailed) them to your foreign fiance(e) for signature?
