But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yes....let's not talk about it, I'm not over it yet.

I'm sorry.

It was quite a game.

Shifting toward cocktails:

Lemon Drops

* Sugar for rimming

* 3 ounces lemon-infused (citron) vodka

* 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

* Lemon wedge

Variation:

* Sugar for rimming

* 2 1/2 ounces lemon-infused (citron) vodka

* 1/2 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec

* 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

* Lemon wedge

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Rim a chilled cocktail glass lightly with lemon juice and sugar. Shake vodka and lemon juice with ice, then strain into the cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon wedge.

Variation:

Rim a chilled cocktail glass with sugar. Shake vodka, Cointreau, and lemon juice with ice, then strain into the cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon wedge.

Note for you perverts: Rimming = applying sugar to the rim of the glass.

hmmmmmmmmm...footbal is indeed the Game..too me....but i root for the cardinals..

Re: football & the other Cardinals, the husband and I went to a Cardinals game the week before last. It was my first NFL game in a real NFL stadium (as opposed to seeing the Cardinals in Sun Devil Stadium). The game itself kinda sucked, but it was a great time.

I grew up a Pats fan (and still support them), but my dad never took us to see a game because he was worried about the "rowdy" fans. He was a little weird about that sort of thing. We did see lots of Sox games, tho.

I wish I could take my kids to some Sox games but it's soooo expensive not to mention near impossible to get tickets unless you're online the second they become available or are willing to buy them off of ebay :(

I'm rooting for the Red Sox of course but my heart just isn't into it this year.

Aw...I hear ya. I remember paying $5 for an in-advance bleacher ticket when I was in high school. :-(

When the husband and I went back to Boston this summer, we decided to try to get scalped tickets to a game against the Evil Yankees. We had a couple of beers at the Cask & Flagon and waited until the second inning to try our luck. Scalpers were still buying tickets at that point. The fixed price for a bleacher ticket was $125, even after the game had started. We decided against it--which was just as well, because the Yankees ended up scoring 20 runs that game. By the third, there were no scalped tickets to be had.

someone will win and someone will lose. THat's about how exciting sports are that I'm not playing.

How about a cocktail recipe?

1 soup sized can of sardines in 'mater sauce,

5-7 red small thai/viet/malay/SE Asian chili peppers (the 1-1 1/2" one's)

1 to 1/2 squeezed key lime (it's the juice you want)

1/2 red onion,

1 garlic clove.

handfull of sticky rice or crackers

(you can substitute red chilis for green one's and key limes for a regular 1/4 to 1/8 lime or lime juice to taste)

(It won't taste like a can of sardines)!

Cut up all the peppers (mince fine), mince the garlic (you can leave larger pieces for different kicks as you eat it or the smaller you make them the more incorporated it all will become and overall the dish will be stronger vs the individual pieces), onion in slivers.

Saute it for 10 to 15 min or so (garlic and onions will sweeten with heat so cooking time is up to you).

Cook "sweet rice" which is sticky rice and ball up large marble sizes in your hand, dip into the dish and soak up the sauce or grab the rice ball and use your thumb to pinch a piece of the dish against the rice ball (how Isaan people eat their meals; between the thumb and a ball of rice).

...or you can spread out some crackers and eat it that way (I tried it on crackers; not bad at all for an appetizer)

(sticky rice...soak in water for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours) and cook like regular rice. Note: It's far easier to use a bamboo rice steamer...I can give you some links if you need one....it beats the snot out of any rice cooker and rice comes out perfect every time....we're insane for immersing rice in water! Why didn't I know this 20 years ago? Darn Asians and their secrets :-)

I just thought I'd pop in and say Go Sox! Just for some background, my dog's name is Papi and I have two cats - Remy (Jerry Remy) and Schilly (Curt Schilling). Unfortunately, being in eastern time, means staying up WAY too late to see the game tonight. Ugh. I'll be sleeping at work in the morning.

Go Lester!! :thumbs:

I'm rooting for the Cards (STL) in their series. I hate the Dodgers (sorry Marilyn!).

I support the Red Sox by process of osmosis. I work in a office of Sox nuts, with a solitary Yankees fan. The Rockies supporter moved offices a couple of months back. And I'm just trying to fit in.

Same goes for the Pats, although anyone who can win a Superbowl ring 3 times (so far), after coming in at number 199 in the draft, deserves admiration.

But truly, my heart is with Pompey, who play football in the English Premiership - you know, football, the game where you USE YOUR FEET TO KICK THE BALL!!!!!!!!

Just sayin' :whistle:

Dodgers aren't even filling the stadium. WTH. Can't get near Busch Stadium during most games.
