I know I am probably being overly concerned about this and I realize the affidavit instructions say that the new form doesn't have to be notarized but the Moscow Embassy website says it does. Can anyone clarify this please?

you might wanna call the embassy and ask them to make sure. they will prolly say you don't need to. That is what happened in my case. ( different embassy/country but same situation )

I am neither especially clever nor especially gifted. I am only very, very curious...

In the same boat here. I think the consulates have not updated their checklists for packet 4. There is not really a section anymore on the new I-134 forms where the notary can sign, just a line where the petitioner signs. Probably best to still contact the embassy and see what they say.

I had the same question the the other day. I decided to have them notarized. Why go this far and not have a notary stamp and delay your visa? It will take 5 minutes if you go to your bank and they will usually do it for free if you have an account w/ them. I say just do it. One less thing to worry about.
