We received our approval for our I-129F sent in for a K3 visa on September 11, 2009. Yeah. Do petition like this get stuck at NVC or just received and remailed to the embassy it needs to go to or is there further processessing done there?

How do you login into NVC to find out your status or can you do this with a K type visa? I read somewhere you can't. Anyone have some answers for me, I would appreciate it. Thank you so much.

I love being a Canadian.

Telephone the NVC at least 1 week after you receive your NOA2. The number is: (603) 334-0700.

Press whatever the options are to speak to a live operator. She/He will ask for the 129-F case number. If it is on file they will then ask for the full name and birth date of the Petitioner and the Beneficiary as well. Once they verify the information they will give you your NVC Case Number. You can also inquire as to when they sent or will send your case to the U.S. Embassy.

Once you have the NVC Case Number, wait approximately another week and call the Department of State (DOS). The number is: (202) 663-1225.

Inquire with them if your file has been received by the U.S. Embassy and been processed into their system. If DOS says that it has been processed, then the Petitioner/Beneficiary can call the US Embassy and schedule an interview date.

I'm going through the same process as well and these are the basic guidelines that I have been following.

Your file will only sit at NVC for 2 to 3 days. After that it will be forwarded to the US Embassy that you indicated on your application for visa processing. It will be the Embassy who will scrutinize your documents and forms. In the IR1/CR1 process, the documents and forms are sent to NVC for scrutinizing.

You got some good info from the post above. :) Call the NVC about a week after you have received your NOA2 to get your NVC Case Number (by the time you get it, it usually means your file has been forwarded to the US Embassy already...ask the agent when it was sent).
