Some of these replies really made me laugh. I saw Greggs in the forum list and almost wet my pants, I had almost forgotten.

I have quite a good system going because I met my husband at summer camp. Every summer when the British staff return they bring such delights as tea and Marmite and Bisto and prawn cocktail Walkers for me. I wish I could get proper bacon.

I would really love a good pasty from West Cornwall Pasty Co now.

Oh yeah... and Monster Munch. All the flavours. That's right flavoUrs.

Mind you. I don't know now if I could go without Tater Tots, chocolate chip pancakes and Friendly's ice cream.

For me it was Cheezits. I actually tried to buy 50 boxes of them on amazon....too bad they wouldn't ship them to the UK...

50 BOXES!! Wow. That is dedication. I'm sure you could smuggle a few boxes next time you fly. I am a big fan of the Cheezits party mix.

I just showed my husband your post and he is confused since he believes that Cheeselets (in the canister) are a much tastier British alternative.

Because cheezits have kinda an artificial taste I can see how any one who starts eating them as an adult might find them a little less then great.

Seriously, bring as much stuff as you can pack! You can't bring meat, which i'm sure you already know, but I wish I'd brought more teabags, biscuits, gravy, custard etc! You can always get it shipped once you're here (for a price) but I suppose we must all learn to adapt and appreciate whats available over here. I could murder a sausage roll though :D

I miss Greggs Cheese and Onion Pasties loads! I perfected my own. But they don't come close to Greggs. Where's that 'Bring Greggs to the US' petition?!

As for other English food, what I'd do for some chip shop chips and the bread! I found crumpets at a local shop and found some of the sweets, tea, marmite and heinz baked beans.

I told my husband that we're going to bring a suitcase home full of crisps, bread and cans of beans when we go back.

Hi Kelly,

How are you doing been a while.

I have a friend that sends stuff over for me, like casserole mixes etc and she sent me some custard mix, but I wish I had brought a lot more with me, hindsight is a great thing lol.

Doing well. Our next trip back is in sight so really looking forward to that and we're actually planning on moving back in a few years. My husband's really missing home, and I love England myself and can't wait!

How have you been doing? and adjusting?

Oh you guys have made me laugh. I forgot I'd even posted that item about missing Greggs sausage rolls!! I still miss them. And yeah, I'm with you all on the weird bread, I've been craving Warburtons blue packet bread forever. It seems that if you want simple bread without sugar, molasses, honey and all the other strange #######, you must pay about $5 for it. I used to be such a tea and toast girl but now I live off bagels. My sister scared me by saying that one bagel is the equivalent to 8 slices of white bread...is this true??! My waistline may actually be all the proof I need.

We have a few good british stores here in San Francisco so I have my Bisto, Branston pickle, Yorkshire pudding mix (which is very yummy), Irn-Bru and the store up the road has loads of british sweets. I can't find Nambarrie tea so I settle for Yorkshire tea or PG tips both of which are ridiculously expensive and I drink tea like all the time.

Still, I am very happy here and my addiction to Cheetos puffs see's me through the day. Alright happy campers, must go and see my family who are over to visit for the first time. I sent my AOS off today so I feel a huge weight has been lifted, smiles all round.

Oh I could so eat a Greggs pastie right now. I just discovered this thread & my mouth is watering! lol I used to go there for my lunch most days & I miss it!

I was walking down the soft drink aisle in the supermarket & wished I could buy some Vimto! I used to drink that stuff by the gallon. Why don't they have cordial here?

Haribo's too! My friend brough me over a huge bag of them in August. I've rationed myself to a couple a day & now I'm on my last dozen. Gutted.

I am at the NVC and still in sunny Scotland. I am a 10 minute walk from Morrisons and could go and get any of those things you people are craving but I have no interest. I'm betting when I'm over there I'll feel differently tho. There is a shop that sells overpriced British stuff near where i will be living in Mass. On my last visit I went there and bought a box of oxo cubes for $5 to make my shepherd's pie. I had made it before with the local stuff and it just wasn't the same. I was laughing at the ridiculously expensive stuff that costs next to nothing over here but I bet when I live there I will be willing to sell my soul for a tunnock's wafer or a can of irn bru! Whenever I fly I always take a few bags of mini cheddars for snacking on. I trawled every shop over there to try and find something similar for my flight back but nothing came close. I guess I'll just have to fill a suitcase of things I can't live without when I get my visa and hope I can make them last until my next visit home!
