There isn't such a number as far as I know. I was able to call their toll-free number from a cell phone I was using in Thailand without an issue. I only ran into problems when I attempted to use non-traditional methods to contact them, such as VoIP. Are you sure you can't just dial them from a line in Jordan?

I just looked into this some more since I can't remember exactly how I got a hold of USCIS when I was in Thailand since it was so long ago.

This is from the USCIS website:

You can call U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) toll-free for automated information and live assistance concerning immigration Services and Benefits within the U.S., including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Our number is: 1 (800) 375-5283

Our TTY number is: 1 (800) 767-1833

If you are outside the United States and have filed an application or petition with a USCIS Service Center, you can call 785-330-1048 to check the status of your case. This number provides automated information only. There is no live assistance available at this number.

If you are outside the United States and need more information concerning United States immigration, please contact the closest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

When one sets up an 800 number, they have the option of making it locally, nationally, or internationally accessible. Based on the quote above, the hotline appears to be only nationally accessible. If this is true, then its possible I actually called USCIS by using a forwarding service from Thailand that uses a U.S. number as a proxy. I did use several of these types of services while over there to call back to the U.S. for little money. However, I can't shake the feeling that I actually did call from my Thai cell because I seem to remember that I was pissed about having to pay so much money to call an 800 number. It might also be possible that calling USCIS from overseas was once possible and now it is not.

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

If you are talking about my post, actually the cell phone was not US based.
